Museum of Flight
Those who have ever dreamed of soaring high above the earth should pay a visit to the National Museum of Flight in Scotland, as the country’s rich history of aviation is chronicled in this fascinating museum. The museum is situated at the site of the historic East Fortune Airfield in East Lothian on the border of Edinburgh. The exhibits are housed in original wartime buildings that make up one of the best-preserved airfields in the United Kingdom. The collections date back to the early 20th century and go all the way through modern air travel.
The National Museum of Flight is located about 32 kilometres from the city centre of Edinburgh but is still easy to reach using the city’s efficient public transportation. There are regular bus services that run from the city centre as well as North Berwick, and there is also a train that stops at the North Berwick station where you can catch a taxi to the Museum of Flight. The A1 motorway connects the museum to the city so it is also easy to reach by private car or taxi for those who don’t want to take advantage of public transport.
