Murrayfield is an upscale area located in western Edinburgh, Scotland. It is better known for its historic stadium with which it shares its name, and the keenly-contested Scottish International Rugby Union tournaments are held there. Next to the stadium is the Murrayfield Ice Rink, another local attraction and venue for major ice hockey matches. For avid golfers, the area also has an excellent course, close to which is the prestigious Easter Belmont Road, one of Edinburgh’s “Millionaire’s Rows.” Apart from its impressive sports infrastructure, there are shops, hotels, restaurants, pubs, and beautiful, large mansions.
- Take a free walking tour of Edinburgh’s iconic stadium, but don’t forget to pick up a memento from the souvenir shop.
- Give the family a whale of a time all day at the Edinburgh Zoo, with its zebras, Asian lions, cute marmosets, South American monkeys, unique Penguin Parade, and more.
- Tee off in style at the 18-hole Murrayfield Golf Club, where all skill levels are welcome.
Edinburgh Airport is the nearest airport, and a car or taxi drive to Murrayfield from there takes around 30 minutes. Trains connect the city’s two railway stations (Waverley and Haymarket) to cities and towns across Scotland and others in the United Kingdom. Airlink buses are available at the airport and run to Murrayfield every 10 minutes. Regular long distance buses also travel to Scotland’s capital from major cities across England and beyond.
