Lauriston lies in central Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, and is the former site of the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. A major redevelopment project, called the Quartermile, has begun here and plans to feature apartments, offices, hotels and restaurants. Nearby is a beautiful green area called "The Meadows." Lauriston is also home to the Museum of Fire, which showcases the history of the oldest fire brigade in the UK. Other nearby attractions including Arthur’s Seat, a group of beautiful green hills, and the Edinburgh College of Art, which often shows student work.
- Visit The Museum of Fire; the museum is in a former Victorian Fire House in Edinburgh and features a wonderful collection of early 19th-century fire engines, uniforms and equipments.
- Tour The Meadows; this huge green spot located in Lauriston offers visitors many tree-lined walkways, large grassy areas, a playground, cricket pitches and tennis courts.
- Explore Arthur’s Seat, the chief peak of a group of hills in the middle of Edinburgh, with spectacular views of the city.
Visitors travelling from London can take a train operated by the East Coast Rail between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh Waverly. Travellers can then reach Lauriston by using the city’s public transportation system. Lothian Buses are the primary method of getting around, especially for tourists. If you decide to travel by bus, you should board Bus Route 44. Those who chose to use a taxi should use the Edinburgh Taxis or Central Radio Taxis companies. Rental cars are also available at the airport and throughout the city, and travellers can chose to hire a driver as well
