Holyroodhouse Palace hotels
The royal Holyroodhouse Palace in Edinburgh is the official residence of the Queen in Scotland. It has been the site of royal proceedings since its early beginnings as an Augustinian abbey founded in the 12th century. The palace was built next to the abbey in 1505 by James IV, King of Scots, and expanded, sacked, destroyed, and rebuilt several times throughout the centuries. Today, the restored Holyroodhouse Palace is a magnificent example of historic architecture and used for official functions, including hosting the Queen for Holyrood Week during the summer.
