In the south of Edinburgh is the suburb of Greenbank. Greenbank is the home of Greenbank Parish Church and is mostly residential. There are quite a few guesthouses and hotels in or near the neighbourhood including one five star hotel with all the modern amenities. This town is not far from the city centre and getting to the places you want to visit is not at all difficult. It is a great place to stay while visiting the capital whether you are therefore business or pleasure as this residential district has a lot to offer.
- Hear the military bands every August during the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which features the finest military bands and dancers in the world.
- Leave Greenbank for the countryside to visit some of the family parks like Leith Links or the meadows where you might see farm animals or wild animals or just enjoy a picnic.
- Shop the shops at Bruntsfield and Morningside, which are close to Greenbank on the south side of Edinburgh and feature everything from clothing boutiques to candles and chocolate.
Edinburgh International Airport sees thousands of passengers come and go every year. Once there, visitors can get to Greenbank by bus, train, or car. From the airport you can use the bus, which is the cheapest option, or taxi, which is the most expensive. Or, you can choose car hire. Be advised that driving may give you the most freedom but it will also give you the most headaches trying to find a place to park. Edinburgh is a compact city and you can easily get from place to place by walking or biking.
