Edinburgh has a rich and intriguing history, and has been the capital city of Scotland since 1437. Drumbrae, an attractive western suburb of this historic city, is a popular residential area where people can avoid the bustle of the city centre. Residents are very proud of their Leisure Centre, which has many activities to offer, and even the elderly and disabled have not been forgotten. The Drumbrae Library Hub is the latest attraction in this picturesque town. It was designed to be more than just a library, as residents can also meet in the café for coffee.
- Visit the Drumbrae Leisure Centre and enjoy an afternoon of swimming in the spectacular pool or join the locals for a game of basketball.
- Take a night out to enjoy a meal at Drumbrae’s exotic Spice Lounge Kitchen, where you can sample the best of Indian cuisine in the company of the locals in Edinburgh.
- Take a walk down the Royal Mile, the most historic tourist route in the Old Town and the length between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace, the Queen’s official residence in Scotland.
The best way to Drumbrae from Edinburgh Airport is the Airlink bus, which stops in the town. The major bus service between the city centre and Drumbrae is the Lothian bus service; take route #1, 21, or 26. The Lothian Bus service also has a tour bus service to popular attractions in the suburbs, visiting the Royal Yacht, Botanic Gardens, and many more attractions. City Sightseeing buses, from which you can hop-on hop-off as much as you like, are also in operation in the city centre. The capital city has an excellent taxi service, and car hires are also available.
