Deep Sea World hotels
Deep Sea World
Deep Sea World is Scotland’s national aquarium. Located at the site of an old quarry in North Queensbury, just under the Forth Rail Bridge, this picturesque sanctuary in northeast of Edinburgh hosts a large collection of sharks. One popular attraction of Deep Sea World is the long underwater viewing tunnel: one of the longest in the world. The seal sanctuary lets you get close to the protected seals, and watch them being fed, always an entertaining activity! With very knowledgeable guides, the educational programs at the seal sanctuary and shark conservation areas are worth the trip.
- Prove your bravery: kids and adults, qualified and non-qualified can dive with the sharks and rays at Deep Sea World!
- Let the kids join the Marine Team and spend the day working with the animals and keepers at the aquarium; they can even take part in a Deep Sea World show popular with visitors from Edinburgh and around the world.
- Take the shark awareness course if you are a qualified diver: learn shark biology, conservation, and finish the day with a Shark dive!
Deep Sea World is located about 20 minutes from Edinburgh just off of the M90. If you are staying in the city, you will want to hire a car to drive to the aquarium, where there is ample free on-site parking. Arriving by public transportation is difficult, but tourist buses stop regularly. During peak times and seasons the displays get very crowded, so time your visit carefully. Strollers are not allowed in some of the undersea portions of the exhibit and due to the many educational offerings, school-age children will get the most enjoyment from this adventure.
