Broomhouse is a mostly residential district in Edinburgh that consists primarily of low-rise housing. The Edinburgh government maintains an office at Saughton House on Broomhouse Drive. The area itself is a small and quiet neighbourhood. Most of the tourist attractions in Edinburgh are located at a slight distance, but are easily accessible by foot or public transportation. The Dovecote Bed and Breakfast is located in the north of this suburb, as is the Corstorphine Inn, which offers high-quality pub food and drinks, along with superior service and a pleasant environment.
- Stay at the Dovecote Bed and Breakfast for one of the most highly rated stays in Edinburgh; then, walk down the street to the Corstorphine Inn for dinner and a drink.
- Play a round or two of golf – just north of Broomhouse is the Carricknowe Golf Course, and just south is the Kingsknowe Golf Course.
- Walk or drive about a mile north of Broomhouse, just north of the Carricknowe Golf Course, and see the giant pandas at the Edinburgh Zoo.
Broomhouse is located just north of the large Calder Road arterial, and the Glasgow railway crosses the district to the north. Don't expect to take the train here, however, as there are no stations in the area. The Edinburgh airport is easily accessible to Broomhouse by bus – there are stops on Broomhouse Drive and Broomhouse Road, and there are good routes for pedestrians between bus stops. Edinburgh also provides several "traffic free" cycling routes for bicyclists. To travel by rail, you will need to get to the South Gyle or Edinburgh Park station.
