Baberton is a residential suburb of Edinburgh, Scotland, situated close to the City Bypass, Wester Hailes railway station, and Edinburgh Airport for travel convenience. Baberton saw a huge rise in its population in the 1960s as it became a popular place for city workers to buy houses. Today, residents and visitors to the suburb can enjoy nearby golf courses and spacious green parklands, as well cinemas, casinos, and a choice of restaurants in the area, making Baberton a self-contained retreat from the city. The Heriot-Watt University campus is also located in the vicinity.
- Visit Wilderness Wood and Bloomiehall Park for a fine time out with the kids where they can enjoy great recreation facilities whilst observing the natural local landscape.
- Go to Baberton Golf Club at Juniper Green, which is a great venue to hit the links and enjoy a glorious view of Forth bridges, Pentland Hills, and Edinburgh Castle whilst standing on the golf course.
- Take a 15-minute stroll from Baberton to Pentlands Hills Regional Park, which was sculpted over the centuries by glaciers, features interesting archaeological remains, and is considered one of Edinburgh’s best parks.
For drivers, Baberton can be easily accessed from the city centre using the A70 and the City Bypass. The railway also passes close to Baberton, with the Wester Hailes railway station just 1.5 kilometres away. The suburb is about 11.2 kilometres from the heart of the city and 8.7 kilometres from the Edinburgh Airport. The City Bypass, A70, A71, and B701 motorways all pass fairly close on by, meaning the area is highly accessible for visitors who are driving. Whilst in the suburb, it is possible to get to some dining spots and parks on foot.
