Arthur's Seat hotels
Located in the centre of Edinburgh, Arthur's Seat is the main peak in a series of hills in Holyrood Park, a stunning green natural formation overlooking the city. While the hill is only about 251metres high, it provides a great view of the city due to its proximity to the downtown area. It can be climbed very easily from any side, which is what makes it popular for locals and tourists alike. It is uncertain if this area refers to King Arthur (a possible site of Camelot) or some other famous Britain; either way, this spot is an essential and perfectly enjoyable for any visitor to Scotland’s capital city.
- Check out the view by taking Radical Road (only by foot) to the top of the hill, as it allows you to see the entire city of Edinburgh without any obstructions.
- Look for the hill fort on the summit of Arthur's Seat, as it appears to have been used during some prehistoric struggle.
- Search for the two stony banks on the east side of the hill, as they once contained a number of coffins and memorial statues when discovered in 1836.
The easiest way to reach Arthur's Seat is to park at one of the various car parks in the area and walk to the hill. You cannot drive to the top of the hill, as it is a walk-only park. Footpaths come together from all directions at Arthur's Seat, so you can scamper up any way you see fit. You can also take a Lothian Bus to any surrounding area, southeast of the city centre, and you’ll find it’s the perfect destination on your way to the Edinburgh Castle. From Edinburgh Airport, this location is accessible via taxi or by taking a bus to Waverly and Haymarket Stations, which will deliver you to the city centre quickly and safely.
