Family Trip

When we arrived we were kept waiting as there was only one member of staff on reception. The rooms were small and two of our party had to move rooms and the room they were moved to was smaller, out of the way and also had was not refurbished. The double had been refurbished, but as with all the other rooms could here the noise at night which would go on until the early hours of the morning and then start at 6am with the workmen at the back of the hotel. Not a pleasant stay.

Nice hotel

Good location, room was clean and nice deco. I stayed there at the weekend. Do ask for a quiet room if available, coz the hotel is next to the night club and the main road, will be noisy at night. Will stay there again.

Great views

Hotel was clean and staff very helpful, but with any old building the creaky floors from above could keep you awake. Hotel was perfectly placed for the beach, pier and shopping.

Good Location

Perfect location for sea front amenities. Room nice size, but windows desperate for a clean. Wall could have done with a coat of paint. If you want to leave your cases, it is a £1 per case "donation"

Six nights in Brighton

The location of this hotel was the main factor in its selection. It became apparent that the hotel is in need of TLC. The 'breakfast room' is more like the inside of a theatre, that needed to be razed to the ground and then re-built. Two of the reception staff were less than helpful when we had a few issues with our room and in particular, when we needed to change rooms! We will not be back and certainly will be advising our family and friends to look elsewhere, if they plan to stay in Brighton. Our first visit to Brighton and out last to UMI.

Lot of noise, incompetent staff

Awful. Only 1 towel for 2 people. Stains everywhere on the carpet. Window unbelievably dirty. Loud noise from other rooms until early morning, we contacted the reception twice, the first time they just sent a call, of course nothing happened, 2nd time they didnt even bother to reply to our call, then we went downstairs and NOBODY was in the reception (and this is a real security concern), eventually we found someone who went to knock at the door of the room with the loud music. An hour later loud music came back. First and last time we stay at this place. Stay away if you dont want to spoil your holiday

New Years Getaway!

We booked an executive room with sea views, unfortunately there was nothing executive about the room at all! The sea view was spoilt by the dirtyness of the windows. The radiators, apart from not working, were filthy, as was the extractor fan. Aircon only blew out cold air. The shower door was mouldy and broken, and the water ran hot and cold. At first glance the decor decieves you into thinking it is a quality hotel, although the rest is what you would expect from a cheap hostel. When we complained about the room the staff were more than amiable and changed us to a suite right away. Which was much better, but still not without its faults. If I had been paying the prices stated at reception I would have demaned my money back and gone elsewhere. I must add that the restaurant ajoining the hotel was lovely and all staff were more than helpfull. Shame the hotel lets them down.

Overall the hotel was a little above average

The room was not executive standard and was a little tired. You could not call the lift from the second floor but breakfast was very good

Just about OK but massively over-priced

Very disappointing for the money. Room was clean and hotel is a good central location but the whole place is shabby and the decor mismatched. I found the bed very uncomfortable and the bathrooms are old (not dirty as such but mould in the grouting etc.) The girl on reception was unfriendly and unhelpful when asked to do a simple task (provide a receipt). I would not stay here again.

seaside escape

We booked a double room which was a bit pricey for what we got. The room was quite small and faced a night club opposite(couldn't afford a sea view. We had a dreadful night as the window did not fully close and we were kept awake till around 3am. In the morning the shower did not work properly and I decided to complain. The staff were brilliant, apologised for the inconvenience and upgraded us to a sea view room which was in a completely different league! The room was huge, the bed could have fit a whole family in it and the bathroom was much nicer. Overall I would totally recommend this hotel, although def try to get a sea view room. The breakfast was outstanding and we had a fab stay. Would def go there again!
