Family weekend break

We booked this trip with my friend and our two young teenage daughters who were mad to visit Brighton. The hotel was in a great location, backing onto the Lanes. The front of the hotel looked a bit grim but a nice big spacious modern lobby, although it was quite chilly. The bar staff could be trained a bit better and the breakfast staff could be a bit more generous with the tea and coffee. Rooms were a great size and the beds were very comfortable. Anything we required from room service was very quick. The little restaurants were really lovely and we took a day trip to London as it was only an hour away. Overall a great visit.

Weekend away

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was very comfortable, the staff are very helpful and friendly and its in a great location on the seafront, handy for The Lanes and many nice pubs and restaurants. Parking can be difficult at busy times as you use the public car park next door but the lift access from the car park into the hotel is very handy and the discount to park is a nice touch. Would definitely recommend.

Fine Hotel for a freezing cold Easter break

Despite of a really horrible outside impression, it's quite dirty concrete and in a style more suitable to prison than hotel, the Thistle was a good experience. The reception staff was very polite, friendly and helpful, unfortunately, one of the 2 elevators was broken for the whole 4 days (Easter break), so waiting was tedious and often long. But the corridors to our room were nicely lit and clean and the room (2 double beds) quite spacious. No big frills, bed a little hard, and no extra blankets available. But we had a side view to the sea and Brighton Pier which was great. It was also very quiet, with full occupancy of the hotel a great advantage. What we would like to specially mention is the friendly staff in the Otis Health centre who made an extra welcome for our daughters who were not guests of the hotel. The Wellness facilities are very nice, not big but functional and the sauna and steam room hot as they should be, and the small swimming pool useful. The location of the hotel could not be any better, directly opposite Brighton Pier and by the sea and in close vicinity of the Lanes and restaurants. Seaside or side view rooms are probably larger and offer the good views which rooms towards the Atrium cannot offer.

Past glory

Arrival at the hotel was ok, they have their own parking - with considerable costs. Problem was the room, which was on a corner of the hotel, had problems with the heating and was above some bar. This meant noisy until late at night, and cold. The heating got fixed by the hotel by lending us a portable heater but still. Bathroom was small but functional, although age of the place was evident. Breakfast was very good and overall the people running the place very efficient, helpfull and polite.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Do NOT go and have a fish & chips in the neighborhood. They are undoubtably the worst I ever had.

Great hotel in a wonderful location!

We were in Brighton for 2 nights and the Thistle Brighton is the perfect hotel for a short stay. Excellent location, great ambience, lovely large room and bath, first class breakfast, and good service. Couldn't ask for a better location: walk to The Lanes, Royal Pavilion, Brighton Pier, and the Hop-on Hop-off bus. We arrived on the train from London and it was merely a 10-15 min. stroll from the railway station to the Thistle. All this at a reasonable price!
