ok for what it was

The room was incredibly warm and small (single room). The shower was tepid in the evening and cold in the morning. The bed was clean but the bathroom could have been cleaner. But for the price and the location it was ok. We were there for a stag do.

Wonderful Winter View of the Sea

We came to visit as a gay couple for a few days in December as part of our Christmas trip to the UK. On arrival, check in was quick and funny, especially the mix over me being Laura (I know it's Brighton but I was not even frocked up)... Check in was speedy and everything about hotel, bar and breakfast was explained well and without rush. Up to the seafront double room- wonderful! More than we could have hoped for. Three large bay windows led to panoramic views of the sea and the west pier...amazing and as the sea was rough, the drama was all there. The bed was really big and very comfortable and the in room amenities were good too including quite a lovely brand of product in the bathroom. Outside may have been freezing but the heating in the hotel kept us snug and comfy. Now onto two parts of our stay that added a lot to our stay. Firstly, the staff. The range of nationalities at the hotel is great and really makes it a service that suits all. The service standard is amazing and the staff we interacted with most (sorry to do this by country) the French guy, Czech girl and the lovely fellow Glaswegian all took time to chat to use and make sure we had all we needed. I was also thankful to the Czech waitress for giving me water after my morning run and for engaging in a lengthy conversation with me at 0700...a time when I know we are all tired. Lastly, the breakfast- such a choice and all cooked to perfection. My Taiwanese partner is not so used to the full English and I heard a lot about it and so too did friends and family we visited. WE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO EVERYONE! Thank you for a great stay!

BILL'S CAFE IN THE LAINES- ANY TIME OF DAY. A gorgeous cafe serving fresh and delicious food that is all locally sourced! Up in Kemptown, the Camelford Arms provides great food too.

pit stop after concert

We checked in early. Didn't bother with car park as we had researched a lock up secure parking just round corner that was good value. This turned out to be a wisemove as hotel car park was full. Our room was below street level so no view. It was large though and bed very comfortable. Lovely clean bathroom with hot shower. Breakfast was not included so we went to arches cafe. Only negative I have is the staff banging the doors in the morning as we were near staff entrance.

Great cosy location

The hotel is right on the seafront and easy to find. Reception and restaurant area beautifully decorated, bedroom was perfect, just the right size, nice finishings, and cotton bedclothes. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, recommend the hotel for a weekend away.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

In Brighton there is so much to do, and all in walking distance, a stroll along the beach, the Pavillion, the shops, restaurants, nightlife, and of course the Lanes.

Ok for a night

Called before hand about parking and they were full so had to pay £25 for NCP parking down the road. Possibly reserve for customers if you ca, rather than 'call on the day or when you get here to check availability'. So would suggest getting the train down or a lift which is a shame if you want to drive around the town. In the room it was lovely, a lot of space which was nice and the only complaint would be that they had coffee and tea in the room and no hot chocolate. What if a customer can not have caffeine or wants a warm drink before bed and doesn't like de caffeinated coffee?  We had breakfast and the staff stood around in front of us talking about their personal lives and swapping numbers. The waitress asked us if we wanted drinks as to which she didn't think to turn the cups over before she left our table and then after I had ordered poached eggs and toast, I had to get the toast myself (just to remind you the waiting staff still standing around at this point) the eggs came back and all I could taste was vinegar.

Fantastic location, not ideal for comfort

Bathroom needed repairs, floor coming away from wall, grout was painted black which was a bit off putting. If window was left open a vent would make a constant noise. Bed was so uncomfortable and pillows were like rocks, I have stayed in cheaper hotels with far better beds/comfort. Location is ideal and staff were friendly, room let hotel down.

Great weekend

Nice clean double room, everything worked, comfortable and quiet. On arrival the lift had broken down however we were offered complimentary drinks which we gladly accepted. The lift was being sorted they were just waiting for parts! Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, friendly service and a nice eating area. If you want to use hotel car park book before arrival, if not it's likely to be full though there is an underground car park further towards the pier £20 for 24hrs.

Great for a Weekend Break

The hotel is right on the front and shoppers paradise is nearby during the day. For the evening, a visit to the Lanes (10 minutes walk) provides you with everything you would want, restaurants for all tastes, bars and clubs as well as the inevitable arcades and casinos. The room was a seaview room at the front of the hotel which is probably worth it if your are staying for more than one night. Furnishings were good and we got a very comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast was to a good standard and cooked to order (as opposed to buffet style). The staff were friendly.helpful and efficient.

Money-saving tip: Not Applicable

Parking is advertised as part of the deal here but be warned that space is limited. We arrived one hour after check in and there was no space left. We had to park in a public car park (5 minutes walk) at a cost of £10 provided we got our car out by 11.00 am the next morning. If you don't manage that the cost becomes a significant issue.

Small tatty room

The room we were allocated looked nothing like the pictures on the website! We had a small box room with plain white bedding tatty furniture and an uneven bathroom floor, which the door stick on when opening amongst other things. The hotel itself was ok and the breakfast was very good but I was extremely disappointed with the room itself!

Average hotel at a fairly convenient location

The reasonable tariffs and ok reviews attracted me to this place. It's about 15 mins walk from the pier, thus fairly central. Wifi is free, however at the back of the hotel connection was a little slow at times. With the relative low tariff it does seem to attract many rowdy parties. Hence it may not be the best place to stay in if a quiet night for sleeping is important to you. Some noisy neighbours at the back of the hotel too. My advice maybe to ask to stay towards the front of the hotel.
