Need to choose your room carefully

We stayed for one night. It was in a great position for the area. Staff were friendly and breakfast was very good. However we had little sleep, our room faced the front of the building and we were disturbed most of the night from street noise. The room felt stuffy and it was a choice between noise and some fresh air.

Good location, hotel with history

The location of the hotel is good and close to the Brighton Pier and lots of pubs and restaurants. It is a old hotel and facilities are old. Room size is ok for two. Car park is very small, chargeable and I couldn't get a space there. Have to park the car in a public underground carpark nearby, which is slightly more expensive than the hotel car park.

Very nice hotel! Would defiantly stay there again :)

Great location, the hotel looks nice from the outside and the inside is very nice too. The rooms are cosy but still a good size, nicely decorated, decent TV, beds were comfortably, the shower was abit difficult to work out but got there in the end :) and the staff were very nice and helpful.

Good hotel but disappointing customer service

The hotel is in a fantastic position and looks great from the outside and lobby. The garage parking is ideal, athough expensive. However, I appreciate that the hotel is old, but the rooms could do with updating, bathrooms shabby and tired. My main complaint was the noise, our room, 349, overlooked a side street and restuarant and was extremely noisey until 4am! When I advised the staff the next day that I did not get any sleep until after 4am due to the noise levels and shouting, swearing going on outside, I was basically told, tough!

The Old Ship Hotel

On arrival staff were friendly, we got lost finding our room as it is quite maze like going down one corridor ending up back where we started the room number signs were not very straight forward, the room was fairly small but clean and I had a great nights sleep, the bar was also open till 3am, I would highly recommend this hotel

Don't go when it is hot

Hotel is OK. The staff are good but there are too few of them. The biggest draw back is the rooms without air conditioning. If they get hot you cannot have the windows open at night because as you would expect for the location it is noisy all night.

Lovely Hotel

the stay at the old ship hotel was a pleasant one, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the location of the hotel was perfect for a city trip, our only complaint was the room was very hot (No air-conditioning) hence the four stars not five. That aside the stay was special and we would stay there again. Recommended

Not a good hotel

This hotel is not good at all. We arrive on the date and I advised it was my sisters birthday, they said they would put a card in the room, I was hoping to order something special for her but they had nothing avaiable. There was no toilet roll in one of the rooms, we asked for early check in, when we got there at 2pm they still were not ready and did not check us in till 2.30pm, overall the reception service was not very good at all. The lifts smelt of damp and the restaurant not very interesting, i would not recommend you stay here in Brighton.
