Blackburn experiences a temperate maritime climate, with cool summers and mild winters. Temperatures typically reach highs of 20ºC during July and August, falling to highs of 7ºC in winter. The town is home to an extensive network of roads, rendering the use of a rental car highly convenient. It is home to its own railway station, located downtown; the railway station is served by Northern Rail trains. The local bus station is located just outside of the rail station.
