Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

The Anchor, White Swan and Lamp are great pubs within 5 mins walk in this admittedly unattractive industrial area. Do take a walk around as several fantastic pre-Blitz buildings survive.

Aweful hotel - like like a homeless hostel

The rooms stink, beds are very old, crackly and obviously uncomfortable. Everything old and run down, not properly cleaned. Great building but massively neglected. Luckily me and my friends were only booked in for one night (more like an alternative to sleeping out in the cold)! I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay at this hotel or any reputable agencies to market this hotel. Are there any hotel inspectors in the Birmingham area - I wonder!!!!

Peaceful stay

15 min walk to the Birmingham Newstreet trainstation, good for my needs. However I would not feel safe to get to the hôtel in the night. Staff was nice. Wifi available in the room. View on the park from my room. Quiet. Things to be improved: Shower faucet in the bathroom needed to be fixed. Garbage bag left in front of the elevator.

Good value but noisy

Overall good value, but the noise from the road outside was very loud and resulted in a poor night sleep. The food in the bar was also disappointing.

Water Leak

Room was fine when we arrived, but after coming back in the evening, the shower room was flooded via a crack in the ceiling. I reported it to Reception they moved us straight away to a better room, told me that the flood was due to someone in the room above having a shower without the shower curtain pulled. The staff were very good in dealing with this, but the building needs some work.

Faulty Towers

The tv never worked! I had to make my point about getting my 10 percent off my food bill as in my offer with you ! I upgraded to a delux room but was not up to standard.

excellent value for money and very convenient

This was my second stay at the Paragon. I had a car this time and it was really good to have parking available with the hotel. It's a pity the wifi internet is not strong enough to reach the rooms but this place is hard to beat for value

Not sure about this one

The doors banged all night and there was no noise reduction in the rooms. The bed was comfortable. The front door I had to get something to stop it from banging when others closed their door i.e. a piece of cardboard. The receptionist did offer to get the maintenance staff to look at it but I thought this ought to have been done previously. Not the best place I've stayed.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a Victorian pub along the road that was friendly and food was quite good.
