A most enjoyablle weekend break.

We went to Birmingham to see Fleetwood Mac at the Genting Arena but we decided to make a weekend of it and booked at the Copthorne. We got a good size clean room with good tea/coffee facilities and biscuits. Breakfast times were good from 7am to 11am. There was no air conditioning so the windows were kept open as it was a hot weekend. With the windows open we got somenoise from the traffic outside. Throughout the hotel the furniture is tired with some seating with taped over splits in the bar and restaurant. Overall it was still a worthwhile stay.

Dated and noisey

Central location, tiny car park, disengaged reception staff, dated decor and no aircon in room. Situated in middle of busy roundabout so traffic noise all night despite secondary glazing but drowned out by constant party goers banging doors, shouting, etc. Cheap and central but one to avoid unless on stag or hen night.

Servicable

The hotel was in an excellent location and the staff were nice. The room was a bit faded and the walls were a bit stained, although the bathroom was nice. We were not given a WiFi code at the reception, and the TV cut out repeatedly and needed to be restarted. We stayed in room 416.

Hen Party

We stayed here for my friends hen weekend. The hotel itself as in the lobby, restaraunt and bar were of a high standard. However the rooms were dated, wallpaper peeling off the wall in bathroom. 80s furniture. When i booked i specifically asked for a room on the same floor as our party. Then i rang one week before and on the check in morning to make sure this would happen. On arrival it didnt i was put two floors away. So i again requested a room change to be on the same floor as i had specifically requested 3x previous. I was met with a dismissive attitude to be told no rooms were ready. I said i would wait. Eventually when my room was ready 3hrs later i was put right down the other side of the very long L shaped floor far away from my party anyway. I am convinced this was done in purpose. However location is fabulous

4* hotel no way in million years

Awful Experience. Room is rubbish. No clean, Beds were moving, shower not working very slow water. Taps are giving cracking sound. No ventilation. Can you believe no light in the room. one single light near the bathroom. no way you can read a book if you have a habit before sleep. Absolutely rubbish experience, not worth for £60 for one night, i might have kept £10 more for a Holiday Inn. I really dont know that these reviews would be seen by the hotel management, If they see, i request them to see whats happeing in the rooms. I ask staff about the 4* star rating, he says it is not for room but for service. Boss my point is my money shoud be valued for the physical room not virtual service my friend. take that away.

Too hot for comfort

What a disappointment. As soon as I walked in to my room it was like a sauna and pretty much stayed like that for most of the night. No Air Con and a portable fan that was ineffective proved for uncomfortable night. The desk had no alternative room to offer and could only supply another fan. If I left the window open there directly below my window was a plant room. This was just as noisy as the portable fan in my bedroom. When I mentioned this on check out the member of staff just offered a very brief apology with no recompense. Will not be returning.

An Interesting Experience

The excellent location of the hotel makes it very attractive. The staff are very helpful and my room was clean and comfortable. However, the room decor is beyond "retro". It's old fashioned to the point of ugly and the greys and browny-greens used in the furnishings, not to mention the massively harsh overhead lighting gives the impression of dirt that - on inspection - is undeserved. If you just want a clean bed for the night, its fine. If you want a luxurious hotel experience, try somewhere else.

Overnight stay

Only stayed here for one night. The location of the Hotel is great for Birmingham city centre with pretty much anything you want to see within easy walking distance. The Reception staff were excellent, very helpful with a good local knowledge and a relaxed but professional attitude. The room itself was "adequate" clean and reasonably comfortable, one huge drawback for me was that the window was quite small and our room faced north so very little natural light in the room, there was no central light and the bedside lamps and desk lamp were very dim giving the room a gloomy feeling. The bathroom was clean and there was a limited range of complimentary items, shower gel, soap and moisturiser, no comb or toothbrush, only one set of towels in the bathroom but a quick call to housekeeping and the location of the second set was revealed ( in the wardrobe). Overall I would recommend this hotel for a one or two night stay.
