Location perfect for shopping and close to railway station. Hotel rather shabby but OK for us. Staff very helpful. No holdups with check-in or check-out. Would stay there again.

2 day stay in Nov

The room was small and dated, with dirty bed linen and stinking of smoke. the staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much fo rthem, the lifts were slow, and the door key did not work on the sencond day, having to run up and down to reception from the 8th floor was a pain. the food was ok, nothing special, I didn't see the chef wash his hands at all during the time we has serving food, as well as slipping food into his mouth and eating whist serving. which I felt was quite discusting, their really was not a lot of choice on the buffet, with food only really being warm, not hot. potatoes had no seasoning and sat shrivelling on their silver tray, this could have been improved with a glase of butter to keep them moist, vegetables were big chunks and could have taken over the plate - these needed to be smaller. it would have been nice to see the chef cook eggs in the mornign rather than having laid out several to turn into rubber at breakfat, the same chef was there serving and nibbling - I think he needs some training in how to work in a kitchen environment as he clearly had no idea. food was dished up onto plates laying under the hot hold, and just thrown over old food that was still there, All other staff were very nice and it was just a shame that this hotel has not seen a lick of paint since pre war! there were a lot of mirrors too, getting out of the lift and neigiating your way to your room was a bit of a task as well, corridors seemed to go off in all directions, sorry to say but I will not recommend or stay again

Britannia hotel

The room that we were in had frayed carpets. Also the linen they put on the next day the under cover had what looked like blood on it. Friday night after a hard days work we were in bed and got woken up by the noise of the next room who were holding a hen party. Then as we were dropping back to sleep the phone went about 2am. As we were checking out the staff did not enquire how our stay went or offer on the parking discount.

Horrible dirty place

When I arrived there was a guest shouting and being abusive at reception in what sounded like Spanish. The bathroom had not even been cleaned. The bath and sink were covered in somebody else's hair! the lights didn't work, the very old TV, the none standard plug sockets ( unable to charge phone) and the whole place stank of stale smoke ash. And just to top it all off I was kept awake by the room across, they (europeans shouting in a foreign language) seemed to think it was OK to place the TV sound on full blast for nearly the full duration of the night. In general just a very drab horrible place. BEST AVOIDED !!

Did not meet expectations

Public hotel areas majorly need updating. I was on the 7th floor and the lift consistently struggled to reach my floor so I had to take the stairs down several times. Room was dusty, with a large window that didn't lock from the inside, which made me feel insecure as well as brought a constant draft into the room. Curtains and carpet were stained. Asked for a non-smoking room but was obviously given smoking (maybe due to availability); naturally it smelled awful. There was apparently a big group in the room next door and their merry-making as well as every chesty cough, cackle and burp was clearly audible. Couldn't sleep well because of noise throughout the night. Best part about this hotel is the location. I expect that's why they're not bothered to improve standard and presentation of the hotel - they know they will get business regardless.

Value for mobey in cenrtal Brum

The hotel is in the centre of the City so it is ideally located for wherever you want to go. It lack some of the amenities of larger hotels but this is reflected in the price. The décor generally could do with updating. Staff are very friendly and helpful. It is good value for money.
