Did the job

No issues but nothing special. 10 min bus into brum and £10 taxi back at the crack of dawn only needed a cheap place to crash.

Don't trust the other reviews!!

Having booked this hotel and later read the reviews, I was terrified to a level where I almost wanted to cancel the booking. How wrong was I... The best value hotel I've ever been in. The room was phenomenal, so 'climaty' it was unbelievable. I've only seen a bed like that in movies, used by kings. The room was clean, not smelly, as others have indicated, clean towels.. well, everything you'd need. Worth well more than the 20 quid we've paid. Well recommended! Just make sure you treat it as an 'inn and not not a Hilton hotel.

Friendly and characterful hotel, handy for the M5

The entrance to the hotel is quite unassuming but there was a warm and friendly welcome at the reception when we arrived at 8pm. As the hotel appears to be several terraced houses joined together, the hotel has quite an unusual layout with lots of stairs and twists and turns, but there were clear signage providing directions to the rooms. My double room was quiet, a reasonable size, with a mix of good quality old furniture (and instead of the ubiquitous bible in the drawers, there were old editions of really interesting books). The bathroom was a good size and all was very clean. The decor looks a bit tired, but for the price I paid, I'm not complaining at all. I'd much rather stay here than in a boring hotel chain. It's a real gem. (Handy for shops and dining too)

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Really good authentic Indian restaurant (Shabab, est 1982) opposite the off-licence along the Hagley Road, 5 mins walk from the hotel. Take your own alcohol. They do special banquet offers on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. Friendly service.

Place should be removed from any hotel booking site.

The hotel need renovation or new owner. Location: not so far from city centre Room: very old decor with old furniture, broken items (had broken lock on the window), cold room, broken items, spider web on the wall. Service: All hotel staff have " I don't want to be here" on the face. Place should be demolished or erased from booking sites. Hotel is only perfect for Halloween night.

OK for somewhere to sleep - clean but very dated

Hotel is situated a short distance from Birmingham city centre and has restaurants, pubs and takeaways nearby so great for being able to catch a bite to eat. The hotel is a bit dated and grim in itself and a bit creepy at night but was generally clean and room facilities were ok. Walls in the hotel are very thin and I was kept awake by traffic noise and the man in the room next door snoring. It sounded as if he was right next to me, the walls were that thin. All in all, it's not a great hotel but fine for somewhere to kip overnight and great value at about £15.00 a night!!!
