Best Hotel in Belfast

Not only is the the Fitzwilliam one of the best hotels in Belfast, it is one of the best hotels in the UK. I say this because of its value, location, staff, and service. This is a great hotel with one of the most attentive staff I have experienced anywhere. It is a true gem.

Irish hospitality!

The friendly, helpful staff along with the spacious and comfortable room made our stay a great one. We found the location very good particularly when arriving from the airport and departing for further travels as the bus station is just around the corner so no need for taxis. It is also within walking distance of all local attractions and plenty of eating places nearby. The Titanic museum, the hop on hop off red bus and St Anne's cathedral are a must. We enjoyed the hotel so much, we stayed a second time after touring the north.

Central Location and Superb Acccommodation

This hotel is right next to the Opera House and Europa and across from the Crown Bar (all Belfast landmarks) and just a minute away from the heart of the city. Perfect for an overnight stay. Room was excellent and service efficient. Happy to recommend

Brilliant in Belfast!

I visited Belfast for a conference at Queens University and had the great fortune of booking the Fitzwilliam. The rooms are like mini-suites. The bathrooms have wet-room shower and bath facilities. There are tea-making facilities, a minibar, flat screen tv and a bed big enough for five people!! Heaven! Staff were fantastic. Restaurant and bar facilities good though wine by the glass was a little overpriced. They even had a bank of umbrellas on stand by for the good old reliable Irish summer weather! I didn't get to visit the gym this time - but as I will definitely be back, that will be rectified next time out! Now - if only they had a swimming pool...

A two star hotel pretending to be a four star

I stayed here for one night. The rate was very reasonable. Location is very central, however Belfast city centre gets very quiet post 7pm, I believe the action happens more around Botanic Ave. The room was very well fitted out and clean. However I had some major issues with this hotel. I arrived at reception around 7pm with one receptionist on duty. She was on a phone call and stayed on for about five minutes, leaving me (and the queue forming behind me) standing there, without any acknowledgement. Not acceptable. However, when she did greet me she was extremely friendly and helpful, so I was willing to overlook the wait. One lift was out of service, so had a long wait for the other life to take me to my room. Later on (around 8:30pm) I ordered room service (just a sandwich & chips) that took over an hour to arrive. And that was with me chasing it. I was really surprised when they charged me for it, I've stayed in hotels before with slow room service, who then will generally waive the tray charge. Not here. Really not good enough for a four star hotel.
