Booked this for a birthday weekend break with the wife. Saw the hotel when looking for places near Brighton. I did book it on the basis of what I had read here so thought I should return the favour for anyone else who reads this. The place is only
20 mins from Brighton and after a busy day in a busy town the picturesque quality of the hotel and surrounding area was refreshing. So much so we spent the next day around this location instead of heading back towards Brighton.
I would give it 5 stars for location, setting, service (receptionist was very helpful ), breakfast (only meal we had but was very good).
The only problem was the room which was looking a bit tired. Carpet warn, heating too much and the bathroom clean but also in need of updating. Even saying this it didn't bother me as I expected this from what I saw walking around. Sometimes it can add to the character of a place. I would agree with other contributors who have said to much modernising could make it look some character.
All in all I would return and might even try dinning in this place.
Hotel features (5 = best, 1 = worst):
Short walk from hotel
The George inn had very nice food and is only a 5 minute walk away
