Great location

On our first visit to Dubai we had neither budget nor desire to go for a 'seven star' experience. Chose the Arabian Courtyard on the basis it looked characterful and was well located. We were not disappointed on either count. The position is great right opposite the old fortress/Dubai Museum, in walking distance of the old town and the river. We were persuaded at check in to upgrade to an 'executive' package that included an upper floor Museum/mosque/river view room + breakfasts and complimentary evening drinks (alcoholic) - a fair addition to the original price but on balance just about worth it. The room was fine - a good size and comfortable bed, and well enough soundproofed not to hear anything much of the traffic outside. Decor slightly tired but all generally OK. Breakfast included in the package was served in a smallish room on the executive floor. A bit limited buffet selection but enough and convenient just a few steps down the corridor. Though can't quite explain why, we didn't totally warm to the place - but certainly if you want to be somewhere in Dubai surrounded by local life and activity rather than a totally westernised business or tourist ghetto, this is the place to be.

Good Stopover

Arrived early morning but as check in time was 2pm, the reception managed to give us a room at 10.30am which was wonderful. Many restaurants and a very good bar(Shetlock Holmes) in the hotel. Staff very helpful.Perril form the the tour desk was excellent and very helpful. Location is in old Dubai with many things to do. Dubai museum is just across the road and good to visit. Gold and Spice souks are also nearby. Areas nearby have much more character than staying in new Dubai. Will come and stay again on another stopover.

Pleasant Hotel

Very pleasant stay in this hotel. In excellent location and close to old Dubai. No building going on near hotel. Restaurants within hotel saves going outside in the hot summer season.

city trip

plus: good location, near Dubai museum, the Creek side and metro station, staff is very friendly and helpfull minus: breakfast is of poor quality and there is too much dust everywhere neutral: neighbourhood (it's in an Indian corner which gives you the feeling you are in India instead of Dubai)

A little TLC would work wonders

We found the room to be musty and the beds really hard. The bathroom was disappointing and in need of some cleaning. The Club lounge was disappointing, alcoholic beverages were strictly controlled to the point of being absurd, the selection of canapes was adequate. The buffet breakfast was very well presented with a good selection from which to choose.

Dubai Stopover

We arrived early morning to friendly staff. They immediately organized early access to our room. The buffet breakfast was welcome especially as it was Ramadan and food is not readily available during the day. There is a bus stop outside the hotel and the Metro is 5 minute walk. Taxis are readily available. Swimming Pool was good in the 41 deg heat. A free shuttle is available to & from airport, beach and shopping centre. Unfortunately we cannot comment on the restaurants within the hotel as they were closed during Ramadan. But overall the hotel was great value.

Relaxing stopover

This hotel had a great atmosphere that told you you were in an Arabic country as it wasn't generic. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The pool area is large and was greatly appreciated in the heat. There is a great choice of retaurants within the hotel. The museum, directly over the road is well worth a visit at about $1 entry. The old souk and the Creek are also in wandering distance. I paid 78 AED to get there by taxi from the airport and 20 AED to return?
