Heritage and Diving Village
When touring Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, one attraction you should make a point of visiting is the Heritage and Diving Village. It is found in Bur Dubai on Al Mina Road, near the mouth of the creek. The centre consists of several buildings built in the style of a traditional Bedouin settlement, which contain various artefacts and displays that tell the history of the country’s early pearl-diving industry. Visitors can tour these exhibits, grab a cup of coffee at the coffee house, take a camel ride, or check out the crafts for sale there by local artisans.
- Attend a craft workshop led by one of the craft vendors at the Heritage and Diving Village and learn firsthand how they make their beautiful pottery and woven goods.
- Experience what it is like to ride on the back of a camel by taking a ride on one of these beasts, which are commonly used as transportation in Dubai and other countries in this part of the world.
- Sit and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee from the on-site coffee house whilst watching the ships move along the Dubai creek.
It is fairly easy to get to the Heritage and Diving Village, as Dubai has a modern and reliable public transportation system, which will take travellers there. There is a metro subway train service that is inexpensive, easy-to-use, and safe; take the “Green” line and disembark at the Al Ghubaiba station. You can also take a public bus (Route 8) to get there, or the Big Bus Company’s double-decker sightseeing bus also has a tour package, which goes to this attraction. Another option is to hire a local taxi to take you there.
