Wat Saket hotels
Wat Saket, known as the Temple of the Golden Mount, is a Buddhist temple that is situated in the Pom Prap Sattru Phai district of Bangkok, Thailand. The temple dates back to ancient times before Bangkok was the capital of Thailand. When Bangkok became the capital in the 18th century, King Rama I ordered major renovations to Wat Saket and he also gave the temple its current name. The hill where Wat Saket is located is called the Golden Mountain and it stands as one of the symbols of Bangkok. It also offers a great place to get panoramic views.
- Enter the fifty eight-metre chedi of Wat Saket and you will find a Buddha relic that is among the most important Buddhist artefacts in all of Bangkok.
- Visit Bangkok in November, when Wat Saket has a temple fair to celebrate Loy Kratong, a weeklong festival that honours the river gods in Thailand.
- Climb the three hundred steps to the top of the Golden Mount and, in addition to the great exercise, you will also be afforded unmatched views of Bangkok.
Bangkok is one of the easiest cities in the world to get around due to its efficient public transportation system and abundance of inexpensive taxis. One way to get there is to use the BTS Skytrain and get off at Victory Monument station. From there you can catch a taxi or motorcycle taxi that will take you the rest of the way to Wat Saket. Another way is to use the Khlong Saen Saeb boat from Pratunam Pier that will take you to Leelard Pier, just a short walk from Wat Saket.
