Ancient City hotels
Realistically, seeing all of Thailand would not be possible, but the next best thing may be a trip to Ancient City cultural park in Samut Prakan, Bangkok. The park exhibits represent historical periods spanning from pre-history to modern times, and more than a hundred important monuments are represented with replicas built under the supervision of Thai history experts from the National Museum. A tour of Ancient City is the most enjoyable way to learn about Thai history whilst seeing some of the country's most important landmarks.
- Stroll through King Rama II's Palace Garden, adorned with Chinese style houses, pagodas, and elaborately reproduced bas-relief scenes from the Chinese Chronicles.
- Experience ancient Thailand whilst enjoying modern Bangkok conveniences in The Old Market Town, a traditional village featuring ancient cultural monuments along with theatres, shops, and casinos.
- Learn about pre-Bangkok cultures at the Ancient City Folk Museum, which features traditional Thai handicrafts like household utensils, musical instruments, farming tools, and pottery.
Suvarnabhumi Airport is 43 kilometres from the Ancient City and 30 kilometres from the centre of Bangkok, and there are numerous airport transportation options. One can use the high-speed rail to go downtown and several BMTA public buses to go anywhere in the city. If you are looking for a simple public transport route to Ancient City, take the Pinklao-Paknam bus (number 511) to the end of its line, and switch to the number 36 minibus. If you are driving or taking a taxi, use the Samrong-Samut Prakan exit on the Bang Phli-Suk Sawat Expressway.
