La Coruna hotels
The autonomous community of Galicia is one of the most vibrant in Spain and as one of the first kingdoms in Europe, has a long and prolific cultural track record. As a result, Galicia attracts a specific brand of tourist, from oenophiles and epicures who covet the fine wine and cuisine of the region, to archaeology aficionados who flock to Celtic and Roman ruins on the coast.
All of this and much, much more, forms the veritable backbone of A Coruña. With just under 300,000 people, the city is second in population in Galicia but has been the paramount economic engine of the region for decades. Home to top football club Deportivo de La Coruña, the city has many notable attractions. The most prominent among them is the ancient Roman lighthouse known as the Tower of Hercules, although A Coruña City Hall and the Museum of Mankind deserve visits as well.
