Casa Batlló hotels
Antoni Gaudí was a figurehead of modern architecture in the Catalan region of Spain. Casa Batlló, commissioned to be renovated by Gaudí, is an amazing example of his work. Mirroring a calm sea, flowing lines, and soft, curved windows that lead from room to room, the building showcases exemplary modern functionality. In Barcelona, they call it the “House of Bones” because of its intense qualities that somehow evoke living flesh. Colourful and unique, Casa Batlló serves now as a museum to its architect and his great vision.
- Remember to pick up your audio tour when you first enter Casa Batlló: it describes the various nooks and crannies and their relation to the sea-theme Gaudí had in mind.
- Make sure you see the mushroom-shaped fireplace hideaway in Mr.Batlló’s office.
- Shop tax-free (over 90 Euros) at the Casa Batlló gift shop if you are exporting your purchase from the country, as you might find it to be the best deal in Barcelona.
Once in Barcelona, getting to Casa Batlló is easy. It’s on the route of several tourist buses, making it a comfortable and safe trip. You can also arrive by metro, stopping at the Passeig de Gràcia on lines L2, L3 and L4. The train also goes to the Passeid de Gràcia station or the Provençastation, and Barcelona city buses are all accessible from those places to take you near Casa Batlló. This is one of the first museums in Spain to be easily accessible for people with reduced vision. Audio guides are spoken in ten languages, and special chairs are available for people with reduced mobility. Either way, you won’t be forgetting this visit.
