The huge South Korean city of Seoul is one of the world's major hubs and a tourist magnet. This wonderful municipality is split up into 25 Gu's, which are effectively borough's similar to those in London. These vary in size, with some almost three times bigger in both population and area. Dong's, or neighbourhoods, have been created within Gu’s; some Gu’s, such as Seongbuk, have as many as 15. Located to the North of the Han River that divides the city, Seongbuk is one of the larger Gu's on the peninsula of South Korea.
- No visit to the South Korean capital would be complete without a trip to the top of the enormous N Seoul Tower, visible from all Gu's across the city, including Gangbuk and Seongbuk; it can be reached via the Namsan cable car and then a short walk.
- Stroll along the banks of the Cheonggyecheon Stream in the evening and enjoy the laser show that lights up this excellent eight kilometre stretch.
- Trace the Korean history in some of the back streets of the Seoul Gu of Seongbuk, where cultural records are unearthed on organised tours.
The transport system in Seoul is far more advanced than many major cities around the world. The International airport at Incheon is a major hub and consequently filters huge numbers of people daily. It has good quality links into the city centre. Shuttle and regular buses are on hand to provide smooth transfers, with several terminals dotted around the Gu's. Places like Gangbuk and Seongbuk are serviced by Sangbong Terminal in the East of the city. The super-efficient subway system has 12 lines covering the entire central and surrounding areas, meaning more or less everywhere is accessible.
