Namsangol Hanok Village hotels
Namsangol Hanok Village
Namsangol Hanok Village is an aggregation of five houses exhibiting the nuances of Korean tradition. The Hanoks, which emerged from different parts of Seoul, found their way to the foot of the Namsan Mountain. Symbolic of the Joseon era of 1392 to 1910, the Hanoks display different aspects of traditional life as it was lived by the nobility and the peasant or the yangban. Other than the folklore activities that’ll keep you wildly entertained, the majestic pavilion upon which the village rests, the typically Korean architecture, and the soothing pond are difficult to resist.
- Take part in the Seoul folk activities at the Chungak building, adjacent to the pond. Some of the thrilling activities include archery and traditional performances. You may witness a colourful, traditional wedding ceremony at the Bak Yeong Hyo's Residence, in Namsangol Hanok Village.
- Learn the art of Taekwondo by signing up for some weekly sessions at the Village grounds or simply watching the pros undertake the art with stunning skills and precision.
- Purchase timeless Korean traditional souvenirs or enjoy some Seoul-inspired dishes and teas at the exhibit shops close to the Hanoks.
Numerous subway lines traverse Jung Gu, the district wherein the Namsangol Hanok Village is situated. This makes the areas within this district very easy to access apart from Namsan, which is accessible by bus. From Seoul, take Subway line 3 or 4 at Changmuro Station. When you exit the subway, you may have to walk five minutes to access the village. You can also take one of the buses heading to the Village; these buses will drop you off at the Geukdong Building and the Village will be right in front of you.
