Inwangsan is a small mountain about 338 metres high, on the west of Seoul in South Korea. The Korean name means the mountain of gorgeous kings. Some of the Korean citizens refer to it as the mysterious mountain because of the numerous ancient artefacts that still lie at the foot and top of the mountain. Inwangsan is a popular tourist destination, not only because of its artefacts, but also due to its undulating thrill that visitors get on a hike up and down this historical and cultural reserve.
- Climb up the slopes of the Inwangsan Mountain and view the beautiful and breathtaking landscape of Seoul from the elevated peak.
- Visit the Buddhist temples at the bottom of mount Inwangsan and learn of the traditional, cultural and religious practices that guided the early inhabitants of Seoul and get an opportunity to learn about a few rituals that were performed in the mountains.
- Take pictures of the numerous flora and fauna that thrive at the top of the mountain.
Inwangsan sits on the western end of Seoul. Getting to the foot of the mountain is quite easy as there are taxi and bus services that can take you there. These commuter services are quite fair and convenient. Alternatively, take the most popular and efficient means of transport – the subway. Go to subway line 3 or the Gyeongongbokgung and alight at exit number 3 where you will proceed to the bus station. Board the Jongo Bus number nine and alight at the Ogin ATP. From here, you can walk approximately 600 metres to the foot of Inwangsan Mountain.
