Daehangno, also called College Street or University Street, is an area in Seoul that is situated to the north of the Han River. The Seoul National University, which was later relocated, was first set up here, and soon became a hub for the youth. The neighbourhood has evolved into a major and vibrant cultural centre for the youth, with numerous theatres and art centres such as the Hakjeon Blue Theatre, which was set up around Marronnier Park, the main site of the university. With a veritable cultural and artistic feast on offer, the place is a major attraction for visitors.
- Explore Marronnier Park in Daehangno, the outdoor cultural hub of Seoul, where you can have a fantastic time watching sculpture exhibitions, dances, performances, and all kinds of cultural activities.
- Visit Arko Art Gallery, the centre that encourages and promotes Korean art, and admire the General and Planning exhibitions that are held here in this remarkable area of Seoul.
- Enjoy a fabulous dining experience here at the numerous restaurants and cafes serving delectable Chinese, Korean, and fusion food, with Bennigan’s being a popular American food joint.
You can arrive in Seoul by flying into Incheon International Airport, which serves the capital city. The airport is located 48 kilometres from the city, and to reach this area, you may avail the airport bus or train services. From the airport, board the high speed AREX trains that reach the city within 45 minutes. Another option is to take the all-station train, though this form of transit is not as convenient as others. To get to Daehangno, take Subway line 4 trains and alight at Haehwa Station. From exit number 2, walk to your destination.
