Nicely idiosyncratic

In a large city of equally large, oftentimes faceless hotels, the Wangz was a pleasant change. I arrived very late and the hotel staff were welcoming and accommodated my request for a quiet room. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I would readily stay there again.

Wangz Hotel Singapore

This is more a hotel catering for business travellers with little amenities for leisure. The room was quite nice with some quirky features like music playing throughout. Nice molten brown toiletries etc. but on the very small side. The breakfast was ok. Not a lot of choice unfortunately. The location is not the best in a pretty dingy part of Chinatown next to a main road.

Excellect Choice & Good Value

Stayed 8 nights in July in deluxe room. Clean, bright, spacious and comfortable. Absolutely no problems or irritants whatsoever in this respect. Complimentary breakfast was ample and the choice was wide, but the coffee wasn't up to Melbourne standards and occassionally, lukewarm. Piped music was also a little tedious. The bottled water, complimentary soft drinks in room fridge, and tea/coffee-makings were well appreciated. Staff were courteous and helpful. We had dinner only once in the Hotel's Nectar Restaurant and it was a failure. A Beef Burgundy dish was tough, inedible and over-salted. By way of mitigation, it was explained that the chef was fasting, so presumably had not tasted the dish. No charge was levied for this embarrassment and we elected to eat out for the rest of our stay. Overall, the only drawback we could cite is the distance to walk from the hotel to the nearest SMRT station. It takes about 10 minutes because of pedestrian-unfriendly traffic lights which, in the oppressive humidity, heat and rain of Singapore in July, become onerous. There is a hotel shuttle to the station however, but the service wasn't really convenient for us. Taxis are another inexpensive option. Tips for travellers: 1) Chinatown is well worth a visit, but the streetside restaurants are over-rated and over-priced. Much better food at much lower prices can be found in food market malls e.g. VivoCity, ION Orchard etc. Little India is another good vicinity. 2) Buy a 1,2 or 3 day tourist travel card for use on the metro and buses. It's saves money if you are getting around the island and saves time too on buying individual trip tickets. Incidentally, all Australians should look on the cleanliness, extensiveness and sheer efficiency of Singapore's public transport system, and dispair!

Great Stay!

I had a great stay at Wangz. I like the fact that it is a small hotel, yet with brilliant service from the staff at all levels. Love the Halo rooftop bar, to wind down in peace and quiet with a view of the city skyline. I would recommend this hotel.

Beyond expectation

Singapore is always clean. This place was sparkly! Had all the necessary things and none of the expensive extras. Complimentary drinks in the bar fridge. Tick. Complimentary newspaper. Tick. As a visitor, I didn't know what newspaper to select, but I got the Strait Times and it was an excellent read. Tick. Shower. Tick. Rain Shower head. Tick. Piped music in the rooms. Tick. With an in-wall volume control. Double tick. Excellent facilities. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. I had a great stay. I didn't feel rushed, yet the location made me feel like I was immersed in Singaporean life without being pushed into the middle of the city. It was 300m from the MRT station. I was feeling lazy and wished there was a shuttle. But hey, even the top end Marina Bay Sands doesn't have a shuttle so who am I to complain?

Time-saving tip: In Hotel

But your MRT pass at the airport when you arrive. You'll use it all the time when you're in Singapore. Sure beats walking in the heat, and is a lot less expensive than a taxi.

Great staff

The hotel is very small and lacks some of the amenities you would get in one of the larger choices in Singapore. There are some oddities such as arriving by taxi into the basement of the building which doesn't add much to first impressions. On my room floor there seemed to be a cleaning cart permanently parked outside of my room which just made the place feel a little scruffy. However, on the upside the room was very modern and quite comfortable although how they missed not putting up hooks in the bathroom to hang your towel I will not know. The result was that I used more towels than I would usually. The staff in the hotel really made this place. Being small it was very personal and many of the staff knew my name within a few hours of arriving. Service levels were of the highest order and nothing seemed too much trouble. So much better than many other hotels in Singapore. This really made the stay for me and for that reason, despite it being a small hotel with somewhat limited facilities, I would stay at Wangz again.
