Overnight stay in Singapore

Hotel is good for short stays, simply because of its Location which is walking distance to key attractions like the Esplanade, City Hall, Bugis Junction, Arab St., etc. and very near an mrt line. Room is comfortable enough though switching on and off the TV was a chore as the button on the remote was somewhat faulty. Our package had breakfast included. However, given the price paid for the hotel stay, the breakfast was not quite up to standard as compred to other hotels of similar range nearby. Worse still was the set up of the breakfast restaurant, which looked out of place in a hotel which described itself as a 4*hotel, but which had plastic tablecloths on some tables while other tables were bare and old wooden tables.

very convenient location

Situated close to public transport, shopping and restaurants - Japanese, Chinese and even a Domes. A restaurant on site. Adequate breakfast included. Swimming pool not in a very attractive setting but a good size. Rooms clean and service, especially doorman, good. We would stay there again.

This is a good 3 star hotel with good location.

The staff at this hotel are ok but the concierge are slow and rather disinterested. There is nothing outstanding in this place but the location is very convenient. However it looks as though it is due a makeover. We have stayed in many hotels in Singapore but this one seemed ordinary.

It could be so much better.

This hotel should really score top marks, and it is absolutely fine for a short say, but loses marks from me for the following: * wi-fi is only available in the busy lobby and is chargeable - that is inexcusable nowadays. * I could hardly hear the 5am fire alarm announcement that told us to stay in our rooms - I had to go and open the door to hear it - and my wife slept through it. It was a false alarm, but it took ~10-15 minutes before we knew that. * our room had no balcony, so once one of us was awake, we both were. * despite having no balcony, an overhang from the room above made our room very dark - lights were needed at all times - not good for the environment. * the breakfast menu was almost identical every day. On the plus side, there is an underground station almost outside the door, there was a good variety of breakfast items (even if not all to my taste), the hotel is near Raffles Bar and the staff are friendly enough. There is also a club for 20-somethings at the end of the street, if that appeals. Would I stay again? As I wrote at the start, the hotel is fine and clean, so I wouldn't worry about staying there again. There are lots of hotels in Singapore though, and quite a few niggles with this one, so I might be tempted to try a different hotel next time.

Entertainment tip: Short walk from hotel

We visited Chinatown (30mins walk) and Little India (15mins walk). Both are (similar) tourist attractions boasting market stalls and restaurants. Chinatown was colourful and interesting, but Little India was scruffy and smelly in places. If you only have time for one, my advice would be to visit Chinatown.
