Singapore is a country in Southeast Asia which is made up of 63 individual islands, many of which are connected by bridges and ferry services. The main island is home to the capital city with the same name as the country itself. Havelock road is a main street which runs through the Downtown section of the city and is home to the popular Clarke Quay with its great dining and shopping, the interesting Chinatown section, a slew of luxurious and affordable hotels, city parks like Pearl’s Hill and Hong Lim, and easy access to the rest of this bustling city.
- View this amazing city by boat for an hour-long cruise down the Singapore River which passes through Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, and Marina Bay, and be sure to bring your camera.
- Tour the intriguing Asian Civilization Museum to admire the various exhibits of antiquities which reflect this country’s rich cultural heritage and past.
- Enjoy lunch and drinks at the Crazy Elephant Restaurant and Bar at Clarke’s Quay Centre, followed by a pleasant afternoon of shopping in the many stores in this Downtown area of Singapore.
Singapore city is fully equipped with public transit to help visitors get around easily. Buses stop regularly at several stops along Havelock Road, namely outside the Hotel Miramar, River View Hotel, and Central Square. Alternatively, travellers can take the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) trains to get around the city, which they can catch at the new Havelock Station. Since this is a place with limited space and a high population density, the number of cars on the road is restricted, but there are designated taxis available which can take tourists around to wherever they wish to go.
