Dhoby Ghaut hotels
Dhoby Ghaut is a district within Singapore that owes its name to its colonial past. From a small but charming area during the days of the British rule, to its present modernity highlighted by the area pubs and shopping complexes, this district has come a long way. However, it retains its old-world charm and offers a unique blend of attractions of the past and the present. Modern buildings vying for space with beautiful art deco structures and manicured lawns alongside mossy canals are a common sight. Nearby attractions in the area include Fort Canning Park and the Singapore Art Museum.
- Explore Fort Canning Park to gain insight into the history of Singapore and enjoy the beautiful park, bunkers, and cannons that commemorate the Japanese Conquest.
- Visit the Singapore Art Museum, which features colonial-style architecture, stained glass, statues, and visual arts exhibits and artistic performances by international artists.
- Discover the joys of shopping within the Dhoby Ghaut neighbourhood, a prime shopping area that offers an array of shops, as well as the Park Mall and the Plaza Singapura shopping centres.
Visitors may reach Dhoby Ghaut by using the efficient public transportation system of Singapore. A local Mass Rapid Transit, or MRT, subway station serves the area and connects it with different parts of the city. Buses are another convenient way of reaching the area, and the SBS Transit company operates a huge fleet of buses that make exploring very convenient for visitors. Taxis are available within Dhoby Ghaut, or may be hired at the taxi stand within Singapore's Central Business District. Although rental cars are available, visitors are encouraged to use public transportation because city traffic tends to be heavy.
