Getting There & Around
Whakatane Airport has direct flights to and from Auckland each day, allowing visitors from other parts of New Zealand to reach the area easily. International travellers may choose to fly into Auckland Airport and then take a commuter flight to Whakatane. Travellers by car can reach Whakatane via the Pacific Coast Highway, which travels along the eastern coast of the North Island.
Since there is no public transportation in Whakatane, visitors can hire a rental car or a taxi to get around the area.
