Pleasure and Business

We booked a weekend plus 2 days extra for work. It was fantastic as we were upgraded to a suite so it was perfect for clients coming to see me in hotel. Ideally situated to Te Papa which is why we were there to visit Air NZ and Gallipoli Expo. Handy to Courtney Place and waterfront and 10 minute walk into the city. Buses close by. Definitely recommend and will stay again.

Overnight on business

Car park was full so I was set off in search of mine own public parking space in the pouring rain...staff didn't seem even a little bit surprised that I thought this unusual. Returned to find my room was a special needs room with disabled shower meaning anyone standing would require to bow over to get wet. Beer selection in the bar was terrible in a city touted as craft beer capital...this hotel is relic. I'll never stay again.

Good location, great outlook but club lounge tired

We arrived and were instantly disappointed to find out we weren't able to have our car valet parked. We were told you needed to book a spot in advance. This was a let down as I have never stayed anywhere where we had to book a spot in advance. I feel as though we should have received a separate email addressing this aspect prior to arriving. We were given a discounted parking voucher couldn't for Te papa but it was a little more inconvenient than valet and definitely dampened our arrival. A shame valet couldn't have offered to park anywhere nearby including te papa for us. Our room was great. Wonderful view and reasonable size. The recent refurbishment was no doubt needed as the hallways were very very tired. I was as a little scared to see what our room would be like after walking out of the lift onto our floor when I saw how old the corridor/hallway looked. The club lounge was a nice concept but the chairs desperately need to be upgraded. Peeling arms on the furniture throughout the club lounge is not a great look. The refreshments were ok, felt it could have been better-a but fairly minimal/basic/simple. We have been in club lounges before and the quality of outstanding. The food provided with the canapé service was fairly basic. A couple of hot pastry things and some cheese and crackers where the cheese was laid out in single pieces spread out over a mirrored platter... Maybe hoping to look as though there was twice as much. It didn't achieve this and looked a bit skint. Breakfast was more substantial and tasty so that lifted our impressions. Overall awesome location but the hotel needs a little more love/money spent on the rest of the refurbishment. The toiletries need to be better quality- full of nasties like sls, parabens etc which people are trying to move away from. I have critiqued the club lounge heavily here as we booked this place over others for this very benefit.

Fine location, pleasant stay

My stay in Wellington was enjoyable, with Amora providing a really nice stay. The rooms were well sized with an enormous and comfortable king size bed and selection of pillows in a modern setting. I was disappointed that wifi was not included in my package other than a trial 30mins. Also, when I did use it, it was incredibly slow. The in room service was great food and pleasant service. I would stay again.

Good hotel in central Wellington

Stayed here for 4 nights while I was in town with my wife on family matters, very good location right in Wellington CBD, close walk to an excellent coffee shop (mojo), had breakfast one morning at the hotel, was a little on the high side price wise for a buffet breakfast but there was a great selection and it was all fresh which made up for it, the staff are very professional and happy to help, dressed well and presented well too. The room and bathroom was nice, however a few stains on the carpet here and there, only downside was the hard bed which we both didn't have a very good sleep in, if they replaced the bed with newer softer ones it would have nearly been perfect for the price. One downside was they had no car parking for us as they are extremely limited for space, but you can park across the road and walk to the hotel easily enough.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

car parking costs $35 a night and is very limited, you can park across the road in the car park for a much cheaper rate.

Is a great hotel right in the heart of wellington but we made 1 local phone call that lasted about 2 minutes at most and was charged $4.00. not good when a local call will only cost about $1.00 for 15 minutes!!

Great night of escape

Although initially the lady that booked us in was a tad snooty the rest of the stay was most enjoyable, the room was great and had a great view and the location was central as easy walk. The club goumet breakfast was awesome will definately stay again.
