Fine location, pleasant stay

My stay in Wellington was enjoyable, with Amora providing a really nice stay. The rooms were well sized with an enormous and comfortable king size bed and selection of pillows in a modern setting. I was disappointed that wifi was not included in my package other than a trial 30mins. Also, when I did use it, it was incredibly slow. The in room service was great food and pleasant service. I would stay again.

Good hotel in central Wellington

Stayed here for 4 nights while I was in town with my wife on family matters, very good location right in Wellington CBD, close walk to an excellent coffee shop (mojo), had breakfast one morning at the hotel, was a little on the high side price wise for a buffet breakfast but there was a great selection and it was all fresh which made up for it, the staff are very professional and happy to help, dressed well and presented well too. The room and bathroom was nice, however a few stains on the carpet here and there, only downside was the hard bed which we both didn't have a very good sleep in, if they replaced the bed with newer softer ones it would have nearly been perfect for the price. One downside was they had no car parking for us as they are extremely limited for space, but you can park across the road and walk to the hotel easily enough.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

car parking costs $35 a night and is very limited, you can park across the road in the car park for a much cheaper rate.

great hotel but...

Is a great hotel right in the heart of wellington but we made 1 local phone call that lasted about 2 minutes at most and was charged $4.00. not good when a local call will only cost about $1.00 for 15 minutes!!

Great night of escape

Although initially the lady that booked us in was a tad snooty the rest of the stay was most enjoyable, the room was great and had a great view and the location was central as easy walk. The club goumet breakfast was awesome will definately stay again.

Ideal location

We were given a twin room (two double beds) when one king/queen bed would have been preferred. The view of the harbour was obstructed by the building across the street, which was disappointing. The lifts were quick and we found everything accessible by foot. Complimentary WIFI would have been nice.

Weekend stay

I thought the staff were lacking in service. My son and I stayed at the Club room as it was the only one available. The lights didn't work when we first got in but maintenance eventually got it working. We went to the Club Lounge for evening drinks and canapés. The gin and tonic was really just tonic and the canapés were dry, lacking in taste and quantity and totally unappetizing. My son was moving to his dorm at Vic Uni on Sunday and called down to ask for the concierge to help with the luggage - we had 3 large bags. 10 minutes later and still no concierge, so we had to take the bags down ourselves and no one apologized or said anything. Service was slow at breakfast and the staff just disappear, no one walks around to see if anyone needs a coffee refill. Though the selection at breakfast was ok. Since my flight was at 3pm, I asked if I could stay a little longer since I had paid for a Club Room but was told quite unpleasantly that I had to pay an additional $20 if I wanted to stay a little longer. Quite frankly, I will never return to the Amora Hotel and I spoke with someone else and they said that the hotel had bad reviews.

A little dissapointing

Wellington was a little windy on our stay, unfortunately the wooden headboard attached to the wall creaked all night and kept the family awake. The hotel corridors were weird, low ceilings and still in the 70's. Not a 5 Star Hotel. The breakfast though was really good, we needed it after a sleepless night.
