Old, Drab, Unclean, Unihabitable

Upon check in the hotel appears modern but that is where it ends. This certainly was the worst hotel experience of my life let alone trip to New Zealand. Upon leaving reception and making our way to our room the first thing we noticed was the worn to threadbare carpet patches at doorways and the scratched surfaces on the doors. When we entered our room the first impression was not impressive. The bathroom to the left was very old, dated and tired. There was apiece of pink painted timber protruding for the top of the hob which held the cistern. Upon pressing the piece of timber down we discovered that this was the toilet flush. The double bed was so old and used that it sloped from the foot to the head downwards and so saggy that when two people laid on it they sunk into a crevase in the middle. When my partner laid down on the bed he looked up to see a portion of the ceiling giving way under rotting plasterboard from a leak in the ceiling and a large patch of established mould. Upon complaining about the room we had been given we were mover to the 'newer' side of the resort. This room although better than the first was by no means worthy of 4 stars. The floor had not been vaccuumed and the bathroom had not been properly equipped missing all towels and bathrooms items including soap. I this room there were two beds a double and a king single. These beds too were so old and used that they could not support our combined weight of 150kg without the matress sagging into the middle. We had to sleep in seperate beds so that we could actaully sleep not a fantastic way to spend a romatic getaway holiday. Upon closer inspection of the bed linen there were also many hairs that were not mine entagled in the covers and blankets. The pillows did not have and pillow protectors and were stained and old. I would never reccommend this hotel to anyone. It was certainly far from 4 star accommodation.

wish it's good, but...

Cheap accommodation

Not our first choice however it was clean and comfortable, not to mention cheap. Choice of TV channels wasn't great but then we were in Queenstown so we weren't planning on spending much time in our room.

arrived late evening in winter

arrived late evening in winter to find the family room's heater did not work. We were however given two rooms for the family in replacement. The heaters worked and were needed as it got down to -7 deg that night. One toilet had ahuge broken chunk out of it, the other room's jug leaked, it really needed a good maintenance fix. new paint work a proper clean in the bathrooms. It was however relative to the price we paid, anything newer or closer to town was double the price. It also included our continental breakfasts so was good value for money. A few minutes out of town but a pretty drive and they have regular shuttles.

we stayed here in the summer for

we stayed here in the summer for a couple of nights. If you are out all day and just want somewhere to sleep then this is an okay hotel. The staff were very friendly and the best thing about the hotel. The decor was very old and outdated, the carpet in our room was awful, the beds were old and soft, and the bathroom was awful. The continental breakfast is not recommended. Apparently this hotel is popular in the winter as it is ideally situated. I think the summer is a different story. The shuttle bus to/from the city was limited and the taxi fare to/from the city to the hotel is quite expensive, there is no public transport. We would not stay here again in the summer months unless there really was nothing else available.

The Coronet Peak Hotel represented

The Coronet Peak Hotel represented very good value for Queenstown. The room was of good standard, and the breakfast was more than we expected for the price we paid. We enjoyed the on-site bowling alley. I would return there.
