great escape - wish we had longer

Once we found reception, this place had it all. It was difficult to work out where the hotel reception was when we arrived by private vehicle, but after that everything was great. Great views, lovely walking track, water taxi into the town all meant we had a relaxing time. The beds were incredibly comfy, food tasty and room and balcony lovely. The gas fire added to the feeling of comfort and warmth. The place has a village atmosphere with cafe, store, pub, restaurants all on site

luxurious stay next to lake wakatipu

The Hilton is just sublime. We stayed in a twin delux with a lake view. The rooms were large and comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful! The lake view wasn't as dramatic as I expected but it was decent. The only downer is that the hotel is located about 20 mins from town. There are many other hotel choices which would place you closer to the town centre but the price I paid to stay at Hilton was extremely competitive. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Oh and WiFi is not free as I would have expected.

Family Wedding

A great place with magical views across the lake. Staff were wonderful, extremely happy and helpful. Getting around the hotel is a bit confusing to start with but once you work out what building is what, it is very easy. Although on the other side of the lake from Queenstown CBD transport across is very easy and runs on a regular basis. You can either take the fast taxi boat, great ride or catch the shuttle bus.

I love this hotel

Beautiful view I enjoy my holiday. The hotel is very good because I love the indoor heated pool and the spa. Everything's just perfect.

Beyond expectations

This has to be the best hotel that I've stayed at by far. The pictures do not do justice to the actual place! The view was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable and the toilets were huge! Most importantly, the rooms were very clean and well maintained! The location wasn't too bad either. It was a 10 min drive to town and a little lesser to the airport. There is also free parking opposite the hotel. Will definitely come back again'

Peaceful retreat

Lovely room design ,with small balcony overlooking an arm of Lake Wakitipu.Very comfortable bed ,lovely bathroom.Restaurants on site of various levels.Staff very helpful.

It's spectacular, but...

This hotel could be the best hotel in New Zealand. Unfortunately, during our time at the Queenstown Hilton (and we've spent a LOT of time at this hotel), the service was lacking in a myriad of areas and the staff seemed to be experiencing woeful communication issues amongst themselves. Here are some examples are the problems we experienced during our stay: - Housekeeping failed to come to our room TWICE. Just the typical every day cleaning was neglected on two occasions during our stay and we had to call multiple times in the evening to have someone come to bring towels and essential items. - We called In Room Dining to send up one plate and two knives and it took roughly an hour (and an additional phone call) to receive our requested items. - We ordered room service one night and ordered fish & chips and milk and cookies. Once again we had to call twice to check on the order after 45 minutes, and then wait staff finally arrived with ONLY the cookies -- no milk, no fish and chips. He quickly apologized and returned a little bit later with our correct order. - We ordered one cappuccino one morning that took 45 minutes and two phone calls. If you want coffee in the morning, go down to the on site coffee shop / market. - We called housekeeping for towels since our room hadn't been serviced. I was waiting to take a shower and they took a little over 30 minutes to arrive. - We ordered room service once again and I inquired about the fish of the day and was told it was salmon. Ordered the salmon, but received cod instead. - When checking in (I've stayed at this hotel several times and am a Hilton Honors member), they had ALL of my information incorrect, including a completely different city and address. I live in Portland and they had me listed under a Chicago address, where I've never lived. - The hotel did not have the bottle of merlot we ordered from the bar menu. Roughly 30 minutes AFTER placing the order, In Room Dining called back and asked if they could replace it with a different merlot. We agreed and then proceeded to wait the standard 45 minutes for our room service to arrive. The next morning we realized that the replacement bottle of merlot was selling for $30 in the market store downstairs, while they charged us $63 for the bottle that wasn't even on the menu to begin with. All of these issues we brought up with the manager in a letter. To his credit, he withdrew some of the charges from our bill and agreed with us that the service we received during our stay was unacceptable. This is a superb property and we will return, however should we endure the same levels of service again, we will have no choice but to find another Queenstown accommodation.

Money-saving tip: In Hotel

Don't leave your windows open at night! Sandflies and moths will flock into your room! Also -- skip the valet parking. There's a FREE parking garage on site. You can park your own car there after you've dropped off your baggage with the bell hop.
