Expecting more...

The king size bed option, I would have expected a larger room. Though modern, the rooms lacked any real zing or wow, in fact kind of cheap. The fridge had been turned off, so it was wet inside when I went to put our wine in it. No wine glasses, we had to pick those up ourselves. Just cheap and a bit of a disappointment for a romantic night out. The check-in/reception staff though were really nice and helpful. I don't think I would return. For a city that is struggling to get people to return to the CBD, the Ibis is not doing any favours.

Did the job

The room was an adequate size and was clean and tidy. The highlight was the free parking overnight close by - if you are going to be out and about during the day I would recommend not paying for hotel parking. The hotel is within close walking distance of the CBD highlights (Re-Start Mall, Avon river, damaged Cathedral).

Perfect for a short stop

As recommended by a tour group to stay at, I booked two night pre and post accomadation from my tour- and very happy with my stay. The location is perfect to the centre on town- close to the restart mall and short walking distance to everything else. Only free wifi in the lobby for 30mins per day, but I did end up purchasing the unlimited 24 hour plan for $17 Not much to do in christchurch as it's all bring rebuilt, but will be back in a few years to see the progress that will be made and will stay at the ibis again.

Yes and No

We've stayed with this group on many occassions yet were dissapointed on this occassion due primarily to walking around room service trays and rubbish left out in the hallway, even after informing staff on two occassions within 4 hours, nothing was done. A shame when they do most other things extremely well.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

a city on the mend after a devestating earthquake three years ago, just walking around this city gives you the sense of excitement about what they doing here, walking and talking to locals is worth the journey here

Business trip

Rooms were dark and quiet which was perfect for a good nights sleep. Only disappointment was my meal at the restaurant was extremely small and very expensive, which is not a great combination. I probably would stay there again for the value of the room and location, but look elsewhere for a better value meal.

Easy Business

In a city so devastated by the events of the past years the Ibis is perfectly located with easy access through the mire of street reconstructions. Smaller rooms but comfortable, clean, tidy.

Noisy

Top floor of brand new hotel an it has a tin roof that was very noisy with the heavy rain . Fridge in room also made a lot of noise. Location is in CBD but Christchurch is now a collection of suburbs so not really relevant. Pricey compared to other main centres. Very good staff and nice looking room.

only if you have no choice

i was unlucky enough to stay there for one night., i think any longer than that i would have looked for comfort in a shoe box. the windows don't open in your rooms, the service is poor and unprofessional, the appearance if the staff was unprofessional, the size of the bathroom was similar and the size of a shoe box put on its side.
