great location

Have stayed many times here. Great location. Staff are usually very good seemed busy and a bit flustered on this stay. Hotel seems to be getting some rennovations done and is looking sharp where these have taken place. Overall, a good place to stay down town. $40 parking fee is too high though.

Central Location

Stayed overnight - useful central location. I travelled on the Mana Bus, and caught the train down to Middlemore from the Britomart, so the hotel was ideal. Small room, I presume because I was on my own, but I thought it was therefore quite pricey. Nice food, friendly staff.

Mixed bag

We stayed at the Mercure Hotel for two nights. The hotel reception is modern and welcoming and the staff were friendly. We dined at the restaurant one evening. The location is second to none. The food was fantastic (including the Chef's Anzac creation dessert) and the views brilliant. What let's this hotel down are the tired rooms. The shower was over the bath and the control hard to use, the toilet flushed more water than the Waikato river (making a mockery of the planting trees promotion), and the air conditioning failed to cool the room. Fortunately the bed was comfortable. We would recommend the restaurant, but not the hotel.

Worst Hotel Ever

I would have to say that the reception staff, bar staff and restaurant staff were the most disorganised I have ever come across. My room was a newly refurbished room and looked comfortable however there must have been sewer pipes running across the air-conditioning vents and all you could hear all night was the water being flushed. it was extremely noisy.

valet parking a surprise

our stay was great until we checked out and found a $40 overnight valet parking bill which we were not perviously informed of would have been nice to have had the option of parking in a cheaper spot

I expected better

I chose the Mercure Auckland based on location to where I had business meetings for a couple of days. The room was reasonable but had a few issues. The air conditioner was ridiculously loud which made getting to sleep challenging. The worst aspect was the premium Internet. Paying $16 for 24hr access and getting 0.5Mbps download speed that dropped out every few minutes made it impossible to get any work done in the room. The staff tried to be helpful and refunded the cost of the wifi in the end but a couple of hours trying to resolve this proved pointless. After two nights in the hotel I also ended up with quite a few bites over my body which I suspect may have been some bugs in the room as I was only in the hotel or the office on the other side of the street. Overall not the worse place I've stayed but far from the best.

Port stopover

Good hotel. Well placed by the terminal for our cruise. Bit noisy at night as near Queen St but it was a Saturday night. Stayed there in the past on a week night and noise wasn't an issue.

9 Sqn RAAF Association Reunion

Thanks to the very friendly staff from the front desk to the room cleaners. I was well looked after. This was a great venue for our reunion from the meet and greet on the Friday evening, as the central meeting place for each day and right up to my departure for home plate on Monday. This hotel is in a perfect place, close to the city centre , the harbour, restaurants and bars etc, etc,. My only problem was at 4.30 am on Sunday morning when all the clubs and pubs must have closed as the noise from the street was rather loud. Over all, the Mercure was the perfect place for our reunion meeting place.

Down on its Luck and Dirty

The Mercure Auckland is very well located in the heart of Auckland's night life district. Unfortunately, it is tired, noisy, dirty and down on its luck just like some of the beggars on the streets in this part of Auckland. The staff are very nice and helpful. It has a wonderful bar and restaurant on the 12th floor overlooking Auckland and the harbour, but unfortunately that where the fun stops. The hotel is very noisy both from internal and external noise. You can hear the lifts going up and down the whole night. This is a very noisy part of town so you should expect some external noise. We were on the sixth floor and it was still very loud outside all night long. The lack of proper double glazing does not help either. The hotel in general is looking very tired and gets worse in the rooms. The age of the paint and fittings must make the place a nightmare to clean. Our room particularly the bathroom was dirty. I also suffered from an allergic reaction from dust mites that started on the day my stay started. I ended up having to take a day off work the following day after my stay to recover from terrible hay fever caused by the the stay at the hotel. It's a real shame that this hotel in such a prime location has not be maintained. Go for a drink to the bar, otherwise avoid at all costs

Centrally located

Staff at reception were just great and went out of their way to help. Noise from nearby night club was not good causing change of room.Overall it was close to most city attractions.
