9 Sqn RAAF Association Reunion

Thanks to the very friendly staff from the front desk to the room cleaners. I was well looked after. This was a great venue for our reunion from the meet and greet on the Friday evening, as the central meeting place for each day and right up to my departure for home plate on Monday. This hotel is in a perfect place, close to the city centre , the harbour, restaurants and bars etc, etc,. My only problem was at 4.30 am on Sunday morning when all the clubs and pubs must have closed as the noise from the street was rather loud. Over all, the Mercure was the perfect place for our reunion meeting place.

Down on its Luck and Dirty

The Mercure Auckland is very well located in the heart of Auckland's night life district. Unfortunately, it is tired, noisy, dirty and down on its luck just like some of the beggars on the streets in this part of Auckland. The staff are very nice and helpful. It has a wonderful bar and restaurant on the 12th floor overlooking Auckland and the harbour, but unfortunately that where the fun stops. The hotel is very noisy both from internal and external noise. You can hear the lifts going up and down the whole night. This is a very noisy part of town so you should expect some external noise. We were on the sixth floor and it was still very loud outside all night long. The lack of proper double glazing does not help either. The hotel in general is looking very tired and gets worse in the rooms. The age of the paint and fittings must make the place a nightmare to clean. Our room particularly the bathroom was dirty. I also suffered from an allergic reaction from dust mites that started on the day my stay started. I ended up having to take a day off work the following day after my stay to recover from terrible hay fever caused by the the stay at the hotel. It's a real shame that this hotel in such a prime location has not be maintained. Go for a drink to the bar, otherwise avoid at all costs

Centrally located

Staff at reception were just great and went out of their way to help. Noise from nearby night club was not good causing change of room.Overall it was close to most city attractions.

Girls weekend

Got upgraded on check in which was lovely as a couple of mums getting away without 5 he kids... up to queen beds and a room with a view. Perfect location to concert at vector arena. 2 min to waterfront. Only downside was on Saturday night it was very noisy from main street bars etc... still hear at 3 am but tired enough to sleep through . If you can cope with that then great spot. Little bit tired but location excellent

Good Location but not much chance of a harbour view

We stayed here for one night at the end of a six-week NZ holiday. Reception (doubling as Conciege) was friendly and helpful at all times. There is no parking here, but they were happy to let my daughter leave her car in the drop-off area for an hour, while we said our goodbyes to her. We had booked a superior room, believing that it would afford a harbour view - not so! It is simply a larger room on the corner of the building. We were given one on the 3rd floor with a fine view of the ugly building opposite! On querying this, they were able to give us a similar room on the 8th floor at a $20 surcharge - oh well at least it had a partial view of the harbour! To get a proper harbour view one needs to have a suite on the 12th floor. The room itself was large and had two standard double beds. It was well appointed, although like the corridors it was a bit worn and in need of some refurb. We had hoped to dine in the 360 Restaurant at the SkyTower, but learned it was fully booked 3 days ahead. After checking out some of the restaurants in the Viaduct and Winyard areas, we chose to eat in the hotel's 13th floor restaurant 'Vue'. And indeed it had a fine view over Watamata Harbour. They gave us an excellent window table and the cuisine was first class. Good result!

Excellent location

The hotel was centrally located so my son and I could go to two shows close by within walking distance. The hotel room was basic but perfect for our needs. When we got back from show there was a party next door and I rang reception and they responded immediately which was greatly appreciated

Position is super

Had 2 nights here at the start of our NZ north experience. The meals, dinner and breakfast, were exceptional from the top floor, perfect position to look over the harbour. The food was spot on, would even come here again just to visit the restaurant. From here you can easily access the ferry terminal to get to Rangitoto or Tiritiris Island etc, basically across the road as well as Britomat and trains. The shopping is also here from basics at Countdown or even clothing or galleries. It wasn't that far to walk up to the Art Gallery, Vector Arena a few steps away, but just outside are the green and red buses, so good a service! Easy ride to Parnell Road/Domain & Museum for $2. This is one of the better areas to stay I would imagine and never being to Auckland before felt happy to have been in this spot.

We took a bus from outside (only a few metres from) the door and goes around the city area. Just across the road at the corner you can get other trips, bargain!

Mercure Auckland

Nice hotel. Location is perfect. Staff were helpful and friendly. City noise not too intrusive. Rooms small but clean and warm. Parking easy, but a bus only street on the west side meant you had to plan your approach if driving. We'd stay again.
