Northcote is a place that appeals to those who love heritage and cultural diversity. Located northwest from Auckland city centre, this area offers one a chance to taste various types of food from different cultures. Watch the old and young practicing tai chi, a Chinese martial art form, at Norman King Square. Visitors who love modern chess, should visit Pearn Crescent in the afternoon to watch Chinese chess players in action. Then, check out the second longest road bridge in the country, the Harbour Bridge and discover just how old Northcote is by visiting the historic area near the harbour.
- Visit the Northern Shopping Centre, which was built in 1959 just outside of Auckland's city centre, to shop for items from different cultures, and sample the tasty Asian food at its Food Court.
- Check out North Island's longest bridge, Harbour Bridge, and discover old Northcote by walking around the harbour area.
- Admire the various art forms from Auckland artists and others from all over the country at the Northart Community Arts Centre, which is located right beside the Northern Shopping Centre.
To reach Northcote fast from Auckland International Airport, go by taxi. The ride usually takes 30 minutes. The cheaper option is going by bus. But, visitors have to take at least a couple, which can be taxing. First, take the Airbus Express that goes to Ferry Terminal Downtown via Mt Eden Rd at Stop 2200, get off at Stop 7149, and take bus 552, which goes to Britomart. Then, get off at Stop 7012 and walk about five minutes to reach 13 Albert St. From there take bus 922, which goes to Takapuna via Northcote, and get off at Stop 3972.
