Botanic Gardens hotels
The Botanic Gardens at Auckland has proven itself to be paradise for nature lovers, with its collection of more than 10000 rare and native plant species. Opened to the public in 1982, the Botanic Gardens is definitely a feast forth senses with flower gardens featuring magnolias and camellias; and edible gardens that display New Zealand’s vegetation. The themes of each garden have been integrated well into the sheltered atmosphere of the gardens. Admission is free and the opening hours are from 8am to 8pm in summer, and 8am to 6pm in winter.
- Walk down the marked Native Forest Trail walk at Botanic Gardens which begins from the end of the Lower Lake, and see the amazing array of Auckland’s flora.
- Experience the Threatened Native Plant Garden in a section of the Botanic Gardens dedicated to a selection of threatened as well as non-threatened species of plants across Auckland and New Zealand, which requires an exceptional amount of care.
- Learn more at the Horticultural Library with its array of 2500 books on the specific topic of horticulture, one is bound to enrich his or her knowledge while visiting this spot.
It is definitely easy to locate the Botanic Gardens. It is situated just next to the Southern Motorway, which is at Hill Road, Manurewa. Getting around by bus may be the more budget friendly option, but you may have to take into account that buses in Auckland are not reliable most of the time, even more so during peak hours. It is best to travel by car or taxi, which provides you both with convenience as well as flexibility to move around. Once at the gardens enjoy the sights and aromas on foot.
