needs updating

We arrived late at our hotel so we had to get a cab from the airport which we were told by the hotel before we left that this was the cheaper option. I don't think it was as it cost €35. The hotel reception and surrounding areas are very chilled and had a hostel come student feel about it. They serve food 24 hours which suited us just fine as our late arrival meant we needed sustenance before a late night trip into Amsterdam. The pizzas are amazing. The hotel is right near a tram stop and there is a fantastic coffee shop around the corner called Bullwakies for all of 'your Amsterdam needs' The room itself was clean but we had a windows that didn't open and a huge damp stain above the windows. The air conditioning didn't work but they provide quite a large fan that did the job. The hallways and landings leading up to the room had a strange smell but apart from that was ok. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel but there are plenty of cafes and bars to grab something locally or a Amsterdam centre is only 20 minutes by tram. Overall you get what you pay for. I would stay here again as it's just enough away from the centre but close enough to have an amazing time without shelling out loads for travel.

West Side Inn Hotel Amsterdam

Hostel style accomodation, though individual rooms best decribes the hotel. A little off the main transport path, otherwise the Hotel was economical and clean.

Interrail stop

We stopped at Amsterdam during our interrail and we looked for a cheap hotel. This hotel was a good compromise between distance from the city center and the overall cost. I would definitely book here again.

Great Budget Hotel in Amsterdam

As a native Dutchman living in the UK, I was looking for a hotel that is not expensive, half decent and just outside the centre in order to park my rental car. I thought it was a fantastic budget hotel with a lovely bar, able to get food till very late, within 5 minutes of tram line 2 taking you to the city. The staff were very friendly. The room is very basic but clean. I would stay here again for sure. There is a great Lebanese restaurant just within 5 minutes on the lake/water. Highly recommended.

just a cheap hotel to sleep over

nothing much to say - just cheap hotel with no amenities and very thin walls. If you have loud neighbours you won't be able to sleep.

Low cost hotel

Rooms clean enough, main reason for staying was "closeness to Metro line for the RAI". Turned out this was a 10 minute walk away, ok if sunny but miserable if raining. All the same much cheaper than city centre hotels.

Great little hotel, bit far from center

The night bus 358 and tram 2 will allow you to reach the center. Great price though.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Albert Heijn and Lidl are round the corner, which will allow you to save some cash.

The room was pretty clean, nice

The room was pretty clean, nice and comfortable, heated 24 hours. Though there were no safe-storage and refrigerator(mini-bar). The elevator in the hotel does not work and it was said by the staff it was broken (to me it seems it's been already broken for a couple of years) The food inside the hotel's bar is very expensive, so are the drinks. The hotel is located a bit far from the city center and the distance is not walkable by foot. The hotel is connected to the city center by 5 minutes walking to the Tram no 2 or to the night bus (15-20 minutes travel) (the operator of the tram usually announce the 'HEM HOTEL STOP') (the tram stops almost in all the tourist attraction sites) If you are planning to travel by public transportation in Amsterdam I would recommend making a free pass to to the public transportation as every ride on the tram costs 2.60 euro and making a free pass would be cheaper. It was the lowest price hotel I could find at the time.
