Perfect base for a city break

The hotel is located just outside the main city centre but with excellent tram and metro links all across the city. It only took around 10 mins to get to the heart of Amsterdam. The hotel is based in a former hospital and has long corridors and very high ceilings - architecturally very interesting. Our room was on a split level with the bedroom area upstairs and the bathroom on the lower level. Although it faced the main road, we didn't hear any traffic noise to keep us awake. Staff were really helpful and friendly.

Wow!

As architects, it is always great to stay in beautiful buildings and the quality of work that Tank has achieved in this wonderful conversion is stunning and worth the visit. In terms of the visit, despite taking a long time to get to the hotel (mainly our own misjudgement of distances as the tram stops reasonably near) our rooms were beyond any expectations. They felt brand new and were clean. When I asked the reception to move one of our rooms else where, the team did so without making a fuss and with a smile. Small points to notice were that we were not offered the welcoming drink we were told at the time of the reservations (do ask for it), we were not asked about breakfast (i had to ask whether the breakfast was included... it was not) we were not told of the Amsterdam tourist tax which we were charged together with the breakfasts. (Now you are aware of the above, just ask)

Best Amsterdam hotel I've stayed in

Lovely old building, sensitively restored and modernised. Close to tram stops and a short walk from the Metro, with the park right next door. Comfy beds, a great shower, free in-room wifi and a nice (albeit pricey) bar. And a nice touch for UK travellers, there was a UK-style plug socket in the room

A gorgeous and comforatable hotel at a reasonable price

This hotel may be a little out of the way for some but I found that a retreat from the crazy amsterdam streets was exactly what we needed. Beautiful hotel with everything that you need. There is a shoppping centre within short walking distance and the tram is right out the front to take you into town!
