Red Light District hotels
It’s unlikely there’s any red light district more extravagant than Amsterdam’s world-famous De Wallen district. Only here will one see scantily-clad escorts dancing from behind glass-fronted cabins trying to solicit clients. Located in the heart of the Dutch capital’s Oude Zijde, or Old Side, this electric tourist location is intersected by many of Amsterdam’s most scenic canals. Don’t let De Wallen’s reputation as a gateway to vices fool you. This world-renowned holiday hotspot offers travellers an enriching array of museums and historic townhouses, as well as bars, boutiques, cafes, and eateries that keep all manner of holidaymakers coming back year after year.
- Attend the quaint 180-seat Theatre Casa Rosso to see a live erotic show performed by some of the city’s most exciting international artists.
- Explore the hilarity of the “Rood” (the Dutch word for “red”) boutique, where everything on sale is red, and bring back a souvenir that’s unmistakable.
- Visit the 13th century relic known as Oude Kerk, the oldest church in Amsterdam with over 10,000 distinguished Dutch citizens buried beneath its stone floors.
Amsterdam’s De Wallen district is easily accessible from all parts of the city. De Wallen is located in Amsterdam’s city centre, which is only a few kilometres from Schiphol International Airport. Direct trains run every ten minutes from the airport to the city’s Central Station, lying within a short walking distance to De Wallen. Amsterdam’s tram system is also famously efficient for taking travellers all over the city until it closes at midnight. Additionally, city buses are available to transport visitors from outlying suburbs to the red light district, along with night buses travelling from midnight to 7 AM. Taxi and car rental services are available at both the airport and Central Station.
