Canal Belt

The Canal Belt is made up of a number of canals that connect to create a water system that boasts picturesque attractions and a well-working transportation network made up of over 165 historical canals. These canals add to the charming and cultural setting that makes the capital city of Amsterdam what it is today. The city boasts a number of different activities, charm, heritage sites, and medieval wonders that will both captivate and indulge your interest. The three main canals date back to the 17th century and were dug during the Dutch Golden Age.

  • Take a Canal Belt tour that will showcase the hidden treasures of Amsterdam, including over 1500 monumental buildings that were built around this canal ring, the Golden Bend with its line of double wide mansions and the Zwanenburgwal canal where Rembrandt and Spinoza once lived.
  • Visit some of Amsterdam’s other treasures, which include the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House, and the Oude Kerk, which is known to be the oldest of five churches in this city.
  • Hire a private boat and explore the vast and splendid waterways that are lined with monumental architecture and romantic atmosphere.

Most travellers enter through the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, which is home to national carriers such as Delta Air and KLM, which has merged with Air France. Direct trains, Connexxion Hotel Shuttle services, and metered taxis offer transfers into the city. Trams and public metro services are considered to be the best means of travel around the city with exception to the rental boats and bikes. Rental boat companies, such as Sloepdelen Amsterdam, offer boats that allow travel on the Canal Belt. Scooters, bicycles, and the Thai-influenced tuk-tuks are also an option.

What travelers to Canal Belt are saying

We enjoy very much. Don't take a free tour of Amsterdam. It is not free and you can do the same with a city map and a bit info from Internet. Do the Chanel tour in an open top boat. Visit Alkmaar, 35 minutes by train, and the cheese market. Visit...

Very interesting city. Getting around with local trams, buses, and ferries was quite simple. Plenty of relatively cheap tours available.
