Anne Frank House
The Anne Frank House is a museum located in Amsterdam. This house is the location where Anne Frank and her family hid from Nazi troops during the Second World War. It features a number of secret rooms, which is how these individuals were able to avoid capture. The house was originally built in 1635, although it has been renovated extensively over the years. In 1960, Anne Frank House was turned into a museum with the purpose of highlighting the discrimination that occurred as the Nazis invaded Holland, so that it never happens again.
- See the locations where Anne Frank and her family hid from the Nazi invaders in Amsterdam, including the old bookshelf which was used to hide the doorway to the secret room where they were hid.
- Read about the persecutions that occurred throughout Europe during World War II, as the internment and killing of Jews was not confined to Amsterdam.
- Visit the bookstore at the Anne Frank House, where you can purchase an official version of Anne Frank's diary.
Since the Anne Frank House is located right in the middle of Amsterdam on Prinsengracht 263-267, it is extremely easy to reach from anywhere in the city. It is about a 20-minute walk from the main station to the house. You can also take the tram (13, 14, or 17) to Westermarkt stop location even closer to Anne Frank house if you do not wish to walk. Those looking to drive downtown might have trouble finding parking at this location, although it is easy to find due to its proximity to several major freeways.
