Very average resort

Check-in time is 3pm but the room was only ready at 4pm! Resort staffs are not efficient enough to handle big crowd in peak season. Toilet area was leaking and floor was wet. Bed sheet had dirt & was torn.

Try to order some warm cooked food along the beach. Delicious and cheap! But make sure the food is cook upon order as there are flies all around.

AVANI - an overview from our stay

Great First impression, a warm welcome for us although one of our rooms was not ready (although we had booked back in Feb..) We got upgraded to a 2 bed villa when we had booked a superior room - so missed out on the romantic 4 poster with draped nets. 2 bed villa was hit and ,miss, out friends next door had 3 TV's one in each bedroom and 1 in lounge where we had just the single in the lounge - also missing chairs for the outdoor seating. Small things but noticed in terms of consistency. Dining - went to 3 of the restaurants - best service and food at Perahu which was much more fine dining then what the info described - fabulous food service and setting. Main Gripe: We could barely get any drinks, if you order wine be prepared to be disappointed, usually not available and if it is very pricey (compared to NZ) Also could not seem to get served quickly. Usually waited at least 20 minutes for drinks to arrive even though they appeared to have plenty of wait/bar staff RECOMMEND: If drinks were a little cheaper and service more prompt I am sure we would have ended up spending a lot more across the bar than we did so would have been win win. LOVED: biking around the resort amazing how proficient you get after a couple of rides up and down the main trunk I would recommend this as a lovely spot but not if you want to do KL we did KL first then spent our last few days here which worked much better.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

If you want to shop or sight see around KL stay there first to make sure you can catch city tours etc. You will not be able to do these from the resort as the bus ride is at least 1 hour and l;eave at 8.30 too late to catch the tours on offer in the city

On arrival, check in service was good and staff are generally very courteous throughout the whole resort. But buggy service needs improvement. There's one buggy service from the main lobby to the clubhouse and then you have to alight with all your stuff and wait for another buggy service to your room. Room was clean but hot. Aircon is not very efficient. Complained about aircon and they sent a service man who topped up the freon but still not cold. Complained again but this time round, no one turned up. Breakfast menu are the same for both days we stayed there. Food are nice but pretty pricy! Valet parking is not multiple entry. Driving 10 mins to a nearby town 7-11 to buy snacks is definitely a much better option than to order from their minimart express service. Way overpriced! Overall, good to relax and do nothing but stock up your own snacks and drinks.

The hotel was great a real pleasure. The only issue was they had not recieved our booking, the staff worked hard to sort this issue and did a good job.the area is perhaps short on what to do locally but all in all a great stay.just a note that the hotel is changing name soon and that they are going to be building a much larger pool in the near future,on site food was great.

Great for Weekend Getaway

The front desk staff upgraded us to Ivory Villa which was fantastic. The Ivory Villa is spacious and has nice view! As the resort is quite new, the villas and resort surrounding are well kept & clean. Hope the maintenance works well into the future since the villa rate is not that cheap. Set dinner at the Chinese Restaurant was tasty, the breakfast buffet spread was good. Just that meals inside the resort are a bit pricey. At night, there are many local BBQ seafood restaurants along the road outside the resort. Activities at the extreme park are good enough for kids to pass time. The complimentary non-motorized sports offered by the hotel is commendable. Unfortunately when it's low tide, watersports are not able to operate. The resort is great place for a short break and we enjoyed our stay.

Family Getaway

We went to GPT over a weekend in Dec and stayed in a Canary Palm Villa. Check-in was a very bad experience where we had to wait for half an hour before our turn. Perhaps it happens to be a peak period on a saturday afternoon where many guests arrive at the same time, but nevertheless, there seems to be quite alot of documentation to be done before we can complete the check-in process. The check-in process needs to be improved to shorten the time. However, a good thing that helps mitigate the unhappiness is that the staff is very friendly. Another bad thing about this resort is that the carpark is not accessible and needs a shuttle to ferry guests to the carpark. But of course, if the intent is a full getaway where you do not intend to get out of the resort, this shouldn't bother you except the unloading and loading of your luggage part. The room we got was clean. View is definitely fantastic. We feel the peace and quiet, out of the busy city life. The infinity pool is perpertually crowded which makes it unwelcoming. But we still have paintball and archery keep us entertained. Unfortunately, it was drizzling so Go-Kart and ATV were not available at that time. Food wise, breakfast is great. There is a staff who is in charge of the fruits counter and he brought smiles to everyone he served with his own smile. Very polite gentlemen. For dinner, we went to this restaurant call Stimboat. The soup base is bland and the cost is not value for money. But you really can't help it as there are few dinner choices unless you are willing to venture out of the resort where there is a local seafood restaurant where you can pick and choose your own seafood and the method of preparation. Overall, I think the place is worthwhile to go once for the experience but for the price, it may not be worthwhile to come back again.
