Dining

The Cinnamon
The Cinnamon is verandah style restaurant that serves a generous buffet breakfast included in all tariffs, and all-day dining from the fusion menu that includes a few local classics. Can't compete with the street stalls, but are fully licensed with a good selection of wines and liquors in a relaxed ambience that you wont find anywhere else in town. Doubling as a private dining room for 12 people, this space can be booked for private meetings as well, and can readily serve refreshments or meals as required.
The Tanglung Bar
Our Lantern Bar, where you can get the best cocktails in Penang while you observe the passing traffic of GeorgeTown. It may be small, but it spills out onto the five foot way and is the place with a buzz.

staff helped us look after our luggage when we arrived earlier before check in time, and also helped call for taxi to the airport.

Heritage Gem

We are so glad we opted to stay at Hotel Penaga! We’d never been to Penang before and soon realised the hotel was in a great location for old town sight-seeing (in the heritage buffer zone) – it was in walking distance of China Town, Cheong Fat Tze Temple, Chulia St and both the Red Garden Cafe & New World Night (Hawker) Markets. It was also right on the bus route for both the free Georgetown shuttle and local buses, for exploration further out. The hotel itself was beautiful. A restored heritage building, the detail and consideration put into the hotel was apparent. We loved our room; the size, the layout, the amazing furniture (great bed) and gorgeous bathroom. It also overlooked the pool which we made good use of in the sticky heat of the afternoons. Staff and service was also great. Overall, Hotel Penaga offers great value and we would highly recommend this hotel!

My go to hotel in Penang

Spacious, clean and comfortable room and bathroom. The shower and bath jacuzzi is to die for. These things make a huge difference for me and it's definitely one of the best I've experienced, even pitched against the more fancy, luxurious five star hotels. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Nothing wanting in this department. They will happily call a cab for you even when you're not at the hotel. Attention is prompt - when I called to complain about the air-conditioner a maintenance man was sent within minutes to check. Even he was friendly! Said to call reception again if there was still a problem. Unfortunately, there was but they happily and quickly switched the room for us. Room service is good and quick. There's not much of a pool if you're looking to sunbathe and have a dip but this doesn't bother me.

Wonderful ambience

Our Hutton Deluxe room was beautifully appointed, with the captioned artwork being a real joy (a theme that recurs throughout the hotel). The garden is gorgeous and service is excellent. Small downsides are that No. 39 can be noisy and breakfast could do with more variety,

Avoid the nearby Red Garden Food Paradise and the Eden Restaurant. In a town full of excellent food choices, it's worth travelling a little further.

value for money

I have booked the hotel for 1 nite stay on 17 June. We are a family of 3 adults and 2 infants , and so we asked for an extra bed. The room proved to be very spacious even with an extra bed. The pleasant surprised is the jacuzzi tub, even my babies love it! Breakfast is fine with some international and local fare. We asked for half boiled eggs but they came too hard, so we need to reqeust for another round. We have blasted the aircon at night and even turn on the ceiling fan to full speed (the speed of fan is pathetic), we still feel it is warm. Overall good experience.

Hardware good, Software still have much space to improve

check-in over 10 mins still wrong I ve no idea why this hotel always respond 'cannot' can I have one more card, > NO can my room try to close to my friend > NO request double bed room > ask somebody move two twins bed combine to one bed In breakfast time, can I have cafe latte > NO, need to have extra charge!!! (Hyatt of coz no need but even motel no need) I booked two rooms, they never read the details, check-in only gave me one room for 3 people!~?? my room air-con error at 4:30am....I don't wanna deal with the hotel anymore... so still open the fan until 7am morning.. the buffet breakfast got nothing to eat, they better change it to set breakfast if only few choices of food.

Fantastic Room and Provision in a ideal location

First thing that awed me was the spaciousness of the room. Well Kept and clean room and bathroom. Everything that one needs to enjoy their stay in Penang is in this hotel. Staffs were knowledgeable of how to get around and what is expected during your stay in Penang and they are happy to assist in making your stay enjoyable.
